I missed the 60th birthday because I had just had a bypass surgery so I am really looking forward to the 45th reunion.
What a joy it was to see 200 smiling faces over the reunion weekend! Many hung with old friends, but others were delighted to get to know classmates they barely knew at HPHS.
Because of the reunion, many will reestablish contact after years of lost communication:
I am excited about an upcoming Cubs game with Rick Brody and Bobby Popke, which would have never happened if it were not for the reunion (Wasn't everyone inspired by Bobby like me?).
The planning committee is meeting in a couple of weeks for a relaxing meal instead of worrying about the next thing needed for the event. How great it was to reunited with these folks, who I knew, and to see some who never had a relationship build one over our joint effort.
Many of you know I was off to Disneyland the Sunday morning after Michael's. Well, the week was as wonderful as the reunion weekend with great weather and perfect behavior from my granddaughter Maddie - it was incredible seeing the Magic Kingdom through her 3 year old eyes!
Well, it is now three weeks into the new school year. I am teaching a new geography/current events class along with math and another new class, which combines goals setting, executive function skill development, career exploration and standardized test prep, among other related topics. The paperwork is worse than the behavior of the students with special needs, or the wackiness of their parents. Open house was Thursday night, so we can hopefully slow down the number of trees we are killing and start teaching.
