After pursuing a Doctorate in Chinese History (didn't quite finish) I moved to New York in 1981. There, I worked with the renowned artist Louise Nevelson for three years constructing all her sculptures. Then I changed course, becoming an actor. Among the TV shows on which I've had guest or recurring roles are "Bull", "Gotham", "The Blacklist", "Picket Fences", "Buffy The Vampire Slayer", "Law & Order", 28 appearances on the David Letterman Show and many others.
Additionally, I've appeared in or voiced several hundred television and radio commercials, and have narrated many specials and series on History, Discovery, and National Geographic channels, along with about 75 audiobooks.
I'm particularly proud of my service on the National Board of Directors of the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA)and, after merger, SAG-AFTRA, which is one of the performers unions to which I belong. I also Chaired that union's National Legislative committee for 13 years. I still play the guitar, sometimes with Jeff Melvoin if I'm lucky.
