BENSON, Arthur W., Jr.

Arthur W. Benson Jr., 70, lifelong resident of Manchester, loving husband for twenty-five years to Heidi (Cole) Benson, died Saturday (November 9, 2013) at Manchester Memorial Hospital. Art was born in Manchester on October 27, 1943, son of the late Arthur W. and Katherine (Schuetz) Benson. He graduated Manchester High School, Class of 1962, and attended the Berklee School of Music in Boston. Prior to retiring in 2012 he owned and operated Dynamic Percussion on Main Street since 1989. Art loved scuba diving in the Caribbean and Australia, and was an avid drummer, skier, and photographer. He received the Outstanding Achievement Award from the National Assoc. of Music Merchants for twenty-five years of service, and was passionate about taking care of his nineteen fish that lived in his freshwater and saltwater tanks at home. With his wife, he is survived by his daughter Amy; his stepchildren Franz and Shelley; his grandson Alex; his sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Rudy Capello of Manchester; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Art was predeceased by a sister, Carol.

My heartfelt sympathy goes to Art's wife and family.  I've known Art since a freshman in high school.  He was a nice classmate and I enjoyed knowing him.  Sheila Veysey Rinck

Nancy Snow West

I didn't know Art in H.S., but did speak with him at the reunion last year; glad I did!!   Art accomplished a lot in his life & left us too early.   Rest in Peace & if there is an afterlife, hope you have met up with your cousin, Ray Benson.
