55Th Class Reunion

What a Wonderful Celebration of our 55th Reunion!

There were two parts to the reunion - the Memorial Service at 10:00 A.M. at the Grove at MHS and the Banquet Buffet starting at 6:00 P.M. at MCC.

In preparation for the Memorial Service at the Grove, the committee had spent the previous Monday evening evening raking leaves and stones, trimming the bushes, cutting branches and spreading mulch.  Two members returned the next evening to paint the benches.  So as the committee was setting up the Grove on Saturday morning with bows (thanks to our classmates Bob and Sandy Buettner), balloons, and red and white mums, plus the two tree displays of our deceased classmates, everything looked lovely.  We were worrying a bit that it might rain and classmates might not come.  However, It held off, the sun even peeked through and 40 classmates showed up.   Bruce welcomed everyone, Lenore read a few passages and prayers from the bible, Shirley read a poem, Marilyn talked about how the Grove came about and then the committee read of the names of our deceased classmates.  Two long time and very dear members of our committee had died while we were planning this reunion - Buddy Feshler and very recently, Edie Clark.  As we read their names, we let the balloons go.

The second part was the Banquet which started with hors d'oeuvres at 6:00. Unfortunately, they were lacking in vatiety and quantity and we are sorry for that.  Classmates seemed to be enjoying talking with, as Fred Odell put it "classmates known, somewhat known, and barely known".  Bruce welcomed everyone, Round Table singers led the singing of the Class Song and the Alma Mater, class pictures were taken by John Long who has our many thanks and people started to line up for the buffet.  After the buffet was compleated we played a somewhat difficult game of trivia and two tables won prizes of Munson's candy bars.  The raffle of at least 15 gifts followed and brought in over $300 which has gone into the The Class of 1962 Scholarship Fund.  The evening festivities concluded with the singing of Auld Lang Syne.  Classmates began to leave and from their comments it was one of the best reunions.

Thank you to all who came and celebrated with us.  It was wonderful to see you and we missed those of you who were not there!
