James Farrell "Jim" Egan

Birth:  Jun. 29, 1944
Hartford County
Connecticut, USA
Death:  Jul. 1, 2016
Fort Washington
Montgomery County

James died suddenly at Abington Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Anne (Ritchie) Egan. Jim was the son of the late John B. and Mary (Brady) Egan.

He received his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Connecticut and Master's Degree in Psychology from St. Joseph's College in West Hartford, CT. He worked for many years as Sales Manager for Harsco Company.

Jim was eldest of eight children and spent the early years of his life in Manchester, CT, graduating from MHS in 1962. He met Anne when they were teenagers, and after a tour of duty in Vietnam as a US Marine at the rank of Lance Corporal, they married in 1967.

Jim was a lover of life and filled every room he entered with laughter and fun. He loved hiking, biking and skiing, a good meal, 'the movies', and most of all, time spent with family and friends. He was the head and heart of his large extended family.

Along with his wife of 48 years, Anne, he is survived by his children Dr. Brian Egan (Barbara) and Dr. Elizabeth Egan (Jeff Peterson); his grandchildren Izzy, Abby, and Allie Egan and Sophie and Oliver Peterson; his siblings John (Irene) Egan, Leslie (Vincent) Kelley, Maryanne (Richard) Steiner, Kathleen Egan (Richard Dodson), Lorraine Egan, Carolyn Egan and Judith Egan; his Aunt Joan (Abramo) Ottolenghi; his brother-in-law William Ritchie (Marge); and his nieces and nephews Deborah Powers, Andrew Ritchie, Timothy Egan, Michelle Egan, Brenna Steiner, Rachel Steiner, Basema Hamied and Caelan Hamied.

A mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at St. Alphonsus Church, Maple Glen, PA. Interment will be private.

Information from Hartford Courant.

Rest in peace, classmate!
