Robert John Morrissey, 65, of Tierra Verde, FL, and formerly of Manchester and South Windsor, beloved husband of Janis (Rose) Morrissey, entered into eternal rest on Saturday (August 15, 2009) at Woodside Hospice in Pinellas Park, FL. Born on April 21, 1944, in Manchester, Bob was the son of the late Thomas J. and Lillian F. (Bischoff) Morrissey. Bob attended local schools, graduated from Fairfield University where he sang with the Christy Minstrels and did his graduate studies at the University of Missouri. Bob's career of 30 years started at the Norden Division of United Technologies, (formerly United Aircraft). He transferred to Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, the Research Department, and then he went on to the Corporate Office of UTC, always working in communications. He held various positions, including Corporate Ombudsman. Bob was a 40 year member of SPEBSQSA, now called the Barbershop Harmony Society, and sang with the Manchester Silk City Chorus, under the direction of Vin Zito, his longtime friend. They also ran the Bob and Vin's Radio Show on WINF. Together they emceed the annual barbershop shows, which sold out, with proceeds benefiting local charities.
