David Pinette

David Paul Pinette, Sr., 79, of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 18, 1943, in Brunswick, ME, son of the late Richard “Mike” Pinette and Gertrude Devon Pinette.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Louise VanCamp.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-eight years, Roberta Vanderhoff Pinette of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina; two sons, David Pinette, Jr. and his wife, Ilyse of Palm Coast, Florida and Christopher Pinette of Middletown, CT; one daughter, Amy Pinette and her husband, Jeff Sussman of Boca Raton, FL; two grandchildren, Jordan and Shelby Pinette; two brothers, Michael Pinette and his wife, Ellen of Tolland, CT and Marc Pinette of Boston, Massachusetts; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Theriault of Mexico, Maine; dear family friend, Maria Hanlon of Port Charlotte, FL; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.

Dave was a true New Englander with a passion for fishing, clamming, lobsters, and boating.  Anyone who knew Dave knew his love for the water ran deep.   It brought Dave joy knowing his family loves the ocean equally.  His love for his family was great.  He loved cooking for his family and vacationing along the New England coast.  Summers in Maine, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and New Jersey will be treasured forever.  This is where Dave taught his children and grandchildren about boating, fishing, clamming, and life.

He was a talented Pewtersmith who poured his heart and soul into his work.  Dave established Connecticut House Pewterers, which he owned and operated for 30 years.  His creativity had no bounds allowing him to develop one-of-a-kind designs.  The pride he upheld when presenting the final product to the customer was apparent in his work.  His legacy will forever be captured in the pieces he fabricated.

Dave enjoyed making friends wherever he went.  He was a stranger to no one and found great purpose sharing in the successes, joys, and challenges of those around him.  Dave was authentically and wholeheartedly there for those in his life.  He had a great sense of appreciation, and he had many stories to tell of his adventurous life that will live on.  Dave is not gone but lives within each of us he has touched.  His love, his wisdom, his compassion, lives on.
