Robert W. Dowd Of Andrews Lake, Felton, died Sunday January 9th at home of heart failure. He was 55 years old.
He was born in Manchester, CT to Ernest and Lois Dowd. He was a US Air Force veteran stationed at Dover Air Force Base in the Finance Department housed in Base Supply, and was a Vietnam veteran. He was a graduate of New England College with a degree in Business Administration. He joined the State of Delaware Auditor's Office after his discharge from the air force, and later worked for the State Budget Office. He was working as Director of Fiscal Operations at the Budget Office at the time of his death. Robert was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Manchester, CT and was a former member of the US Power Squadron. He enjoyed sailing. He served as a Commander and Vice-Commander of Flotilla 12-1 of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary. He had been recognized by the Kent County S.P.C.A. for his kindness to animals and was also a friend and supporter of local roller skating activities.
Robert is survived by his wife, Barbara Dowd of Felton; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Betsy and Fred Baker of Manchester, Connecticut.
