Herbert “Herb” L. Stohs Jr., 63, died Monday, Aug. 22, 2011, at his home in Marysville after a long illness.

A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, Marysville. Pastor Donnie Hoffman will officiate.  Inurnment will be in the Marysville City Cemetery after the service.

Herbert Stohs was born June 26, 1948, at Marysville, the son of Herbert L. Stohs Sr. and Erna K. Germer Stohs. He was baptized and confirmed at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, Marysville.

After graduating from Marysville High School in 1966 he joined the U.S. Navy. While in the Navy, he served aboard the U.S.S. Kitty Hawk and the U.S.S. Ticonderoga during the Vietnam War. 

He married Lora L. Owens Nov. 16, 1971, at the old Marshall County Courthouse.

He had worked at Landoll Corporation for more than 20 years before illness forced him to retire. 

He was a member of SMN&R Post 163 of the American Legion, Marysville.

He enjoyed going to work every day. He enjoyed his family, especially his grandkids and Lora’s babysitting kids. His hobbies included gardening, watching TV and doing crossword puzzles in his spare time. 

Survivors include his wife; his sons, Greg Stohs, Marysville, and Brian Stohs, Colby; and four grandchildren.
