"Coach" Jerry L. Adams, age 73, passed away on December 12th, 2015. He was a math teacher, Athletic Director, head football and head baseball coach at East Gaston High School. Under his leadership, the 1977 and 1978 football teams posted the two best consecutive seasons in school history at EG, winning 17 of 22 games and a share of the 1978 Southwestern Conference 3-A Championship, earning Adams Coach of the Year honors. His 1979 baseball team remains the best team in school history, winning the conference championship and finishing number 2 in the state among North Carolina 3-A teams. Coach Adams loved God, his family and his players with all his heart. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.
