I am proud to be a member of this class. I think I would be happy regardless of what we did for a reunion simply because I enjoy getting back together with all of you so much. One of my main thoughts this past weekend (besides the one I had about killing Dan the DJ) was how much history we all share. Some of us have known each other our entire lives. And we've shared far more good times than bad. I love you guys - even you, Thermos.  Oh, and to Alan and our class officers - the plaque you gave me was beautiful.  I will cherish it.  Let's get together again soon!

I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed the weekend getting to see old friends again after 30 years! It was great to make new friends as well. I am definitely looking forward to our next get-together. It may be a long drive for me, but it was very well worth it.

Thanks again to Russell for making this website possible for all of us to be able to stay in touch between the reunions!

I just wanted to Thank everyone involved with the planning of our 30th Class Reunion! It was awesome being able to see so many old friends after so so many years. I truly feel blessed to have been a part of this class. We definitely have something special. I have no complaints, it was unfortunate about the food situation at the Saturday Night event..
Please keep me posted about any upcoming events, I will definitely plan to attend!

I had a great time at the reunion, even though I was sick! It was worth coming out for. I felt this was NOT about how who looked and who had what, but a true time of friendship. Thanks Russell, Vicki, and the rest of the gang !

To the Class of '79, I thank you all for the great memories, for such a special time together this past weekend, and for being special friends, even after 30 years! (wow, can that really be possible?--sure doesn't seem like that long ago).
Having not attended a reunion in prior years, I was not sure what to expect. The times we all shared this past weekend went beyond my greatest expectations. I am so happy that I decided to make the trek to attend. Even though it's a bit of a ways from Florida, it was worth every minute of it. I really enjoyed seeing everyone again and reliving some great times from our youth.
Thanks to all the class officers who obviously worked very hard to make our reunion the very best! And to Russell Randolph for all the hard work you put into this website. We must be the luckiest class to have such a great way to keep in touch with each other.
I am already looking forward to seeing everyone again, I just hope it's sooner than five more years!
For those who did not attend this year, I sure hope you will consider attending the next event because you surely will not regret it! So many faces that I, for one, was looking for in the crowd but didn't see. I sure hope to see you the next time!
Take care everybody and thanks for making our 30th a wonderful time for us all!

Wow what a great night! I can't begin to tell you how grateful I am that Russ contacted me to once again be a part of my east gaston family. I wish we had more time to talk with everyone but just seeing all the familiar faces was truly a blessing. Thanks for welcoming my wife "T" (Teresa) and making her feel right at home. I look forward to future get togethers and appreciate the hard work that went into the planning and preparation for the whole weekend. The whole reunion committee is to be commended. All the Best Jeff Shirley

PS.
If anyone has Thermos' number please forward to "T" as she would like to purchase some "peaches"..:0)

A toast to the planning committee for an over the top Friday night tailgate, and from what I have been told a rousing Saturday night. I look forward with great anticipation to reconnecting with everyone. Best of wishes and blessings to everyone as we bring another year to a close. On a more somber note, Ray Jones has lung cancer. If you get a chance, drop him a card. I know it would bring a smile to his face. Take care Class of 79, and I do hope that we don't wait another 30 years to see one another.

Hey guys,
My hats off to all the folks in our class that was able to plan an event like this. I know it took a lot of after hours work and I appreciate it very much! It was great to be able to catch up with everyone after 30(uh em)years! To be honest the couple hours of social time prior to sitting down was the bomb and my Wife and I really enjoyed that time were were able to spend with each of you!
My guess is we shouldn't wait another 30 years prior to having another catch up time since our luck just might run out on us by then!
Mary Lynne, Vickie, Alan and Russell and I am sure I missed some others....a big THANK YOU for your dedication to our class!

All the best to each of you! We hope to see you guys again real soon!

Words can't be written the joy and excitement that I had Saturday night. Even if I had to not wear my heels. I was able to get up Sunday morning and go to church with my family. Thanks to the Committee for all the sweats and I know SWEATS because nothing that great could have been so easy. I'm not going to start naming names because I afraid that I might forget someone. I wanted to go to the football game but I knew that my back wouldn't make it.

We are truly blessed and lucky to have this website in order to connect to each other. We all should go out of our way to find those Warriors that are missing and share with them of how much everyone wants to have a way of sharing the good news, when will need prayers and networking.

Once again thanks again for a Job Well Done. Love you all.

Reunion Wrap Up

It has been gratifying to see the positive comments on the reunion. Honestly, I think most of us just enjoy getting together so much, that the venue for the event is not all that important.

As most of you know, we added the Friday night event this year in order to offer a very affordable option. Thanks to Richard Wooten and Coach Scruggs, this event turned out way better than I expected. The food and fellowship were great, and for those few of us who stayed for the entire game, it was as good as football gets. Those who attended from the other classes we invited were very appreciative, and the After Party at the City Cafe was fun as well.

As for Saturday night, the banquet room was set up nicely for us, and the hotel offered rooms for us to stay over at an affordable price. Thanks to Marty Blackwood for his help in getting this arranged.

I don't quite know how to rate the "surprise" visit from Thermos on Saturday night. You be the judge!

When we start to plan for our 35th, we will pay closer attention to the food quantity and our contractual arrangement for the room (I didn't like the security escort out of the room at 11:30).

We are all very blessed to have so many in our class who give their time to these reunions. In addition to Richard and Marty mentioned above, we could not have done it without the hard work and leadership of Vicky, Mary Lynne, Mark, Scott and Russell. Unseen to most, we also had some leadership exhibited by Randy Farrell, Vickie Murphy Skipper, Robin Edwards Riddle, and Mark McIntosh at the event Saturday night. I should also mention that we had great participation and input from many classmates at the reunion planning meetings.

With Russell's web site carrying our banner going forward, rest assured that we will continue our reunions every 5 years, and we will always strive to make the next one better than the last.

It was great seeing everyone!

Thank you to everyone who made our reunion a smashing success. I haven’t laughed as hard as I did at Thermos in a while. That was just wrong...and deeply stupid. Linda and I saw so many friends we hadn’t seen in years. Thanks especially for inviting the other classes to the football game, what a great idea. Thanks to the BBQ chefs. Thanks to Richard Wooten for personalizing the field for us. Thanks to our great class officers. And Thank You Russell! We couldn’t buy a website like this, it has to be a labor of love.

To all my classmates that made this weekend a success -job well done! To all the classmates that finally made it,thanks. I always feel soo at home, soo at peace when I'm with my class. As I reflect back on our times of growing up, it really didn't matter if you were black or white but that YOU WERE A WARRIOR. With that said, God speed to all and hope to see you all again in 5 years.

To all who planned the reunion and executed the plan, thanks! My wife and I enjoyed the tailgate party and the great fellowship. Thanks to Russ for the great website and your devotion to keeping it current, I enjoy surfing it when I have the chance. I look forward to the next opportunity to be in warrior country. I was also pleased to see in the paper that the football team won Friday night, now we need to hope for the band to return to its former glory.

Take a moment and send a note of congratulations to our own U.S. Navy Captain Brian Smith.  Brian took command of Navy Region Mid-Atlantic Component Command on July 9th, 2010.  He now commands 31 Navy Operational Support centers from North Carolina to Maine.  With a full-time staff of 750 sailors and civillians, his group supports over 11,500 Navy Reserve Sailors.  East Gaston classmates Roger Lowe, Linda Greene Lowe, Scott and Cherie Loftin made the trip to Virginia to witness Brian's command ceremony.  Brian is also celebrating his recent engagement to Lisa Ziehmann.  YOU MAKE US ALL PROUD, BRIAN!!
