In Memory

Janine Amy Goymerac (Nelson)

Janine Amy Goymerac (Nelson)

Aimee was born in Vallejo to Nick and Vada Goymerac on April 30, 1947. She lost her battle with cancer Nov. 15, 2014. Her family moved to Napa in 1955, where she lived the rest of her life. She married Ronald Nelson in 1969.

She attended local schools and graduated from Napa High in 1964.

After working at the Solano County Health Department for 18 years, she decided to go back to school and get her nursing degree. At her graduation from nursing school, her teacher introduced her as the “one who would run the entire state hospital.”

In her younger years, she enjoyed target shooting and antiquing on trips to Kansas to visit grandparents. She had a green thumb and could grow anything. For those rare exceptions when a plant wouldn’t grow, she found out the reason from books, as she was a voracious reader. She loved to buy clothes, even if she didn’t wear them or need them. Sometimes, she had doubles or triples depending on color choices.

During her life, she had many dogs and loved them all, but none were as special as her last one, Abby. They could be found in every dog park and walking trail in Napa on their multiple daily walks.

Aimee or Janine, whichever name you knew her by, is survived by her husband, Ronald Nelson; daughter, Monica Nelson; mother, Vada Goymerac; sister, Niki Bartlett; brother, Eddie (Janine) Goymerac; brother-in-law, Dennis (Shelly) Nelson; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, Nick Goymerac.

A special thanks to Ron’s brother, Dennis, for all his help and compassion in making her passing more comfortable; also to the hospice staff for their great care. At Aimee’s request, no services are planned. Memorial contributions may be made to Napa Valley Hospice or Napa County Animal Rescue. Memories and words of sympathy may be shared with the family online at TulocayCemetery.org.

Like so many others, I remember Janine from High School.  She was very pretty & had a terrific, fun personality.  I have a feeling she brightened many lives over the years.  I recall her with fondness.

Janine and I shared many classes together at Redwood and Napa High and we were alphabetically always together....Gomerac and Gushe...saw her several times at the Kaiser clinic and I could tell she was not feeling well and not wanting to visit.  Her pain is gone now and she can rest in peace..

Saddened by this unpleasant news.  We are all here for a purpose and her purpose was to help others through nursing.  I remember Janine as a pretty, smart, and always friendly young woman.  Rest in Peace friend.

Very saddened to hear of Janine's passing, she was a very sweet and intelligent person, we dated briefly in our senior year and I have fond memories of Janine and regret not reconnecting with her.

So sorry to hear of Janine's passing.  I only knew her in passing at Napa High, but she was always smiling.

I was saddened to hear of Janine’s passing.  I met Janine as a classmate at West Park Elementary in the third or fourth grade and later shared a class or two with her at Redwood.   She was a pretty, friendly, smart and sweet girl who matured into a successful young woman.  RIP my friend.

I met Janine at Redwood and knew her through high school.  We would see each other from time to time through the years and then lost touch. Our paths crossed again at Napa State Hospital when I worked for the Dir. of Nursing and she was going through the Nursing program.  She was a very pretty girl and always sweet, happy and fun. Rest in our Savior's arms Janine. Your pain is over.

I met Janine at West Park Elementry school. She lived right next door to the school. We went on through High School together. I would see her off and on over the years and remember her and her daughter walking their dogs by my place often. I am very sad we lost her.

It's always said to hear of a class mate living us for any reason and this one was not a fun one. From what I have read so far Janina has had a very full and happy life in and out of School. I can only belive while she was going to School and from the times I saw her with her Books in front of her up high like all the other Girls and always with a smile on her face I could only feel she was happy with her life and that is a good thing having a smile on while going through life and that Girl could really smile.

We can't see her smile any longer , But we know she is. She can't help her self.

R.I.P. Janina Nelson and have a grate trip.

I'm sad to hear of Janine's passing.  I only knew her briefly at Napa High, but she always had a smile to share. Be at peace Janine.
