Shortly after high school Shirley moved to Honolulu with several friends from North Van and the crazy stories of those days are still circulating.  After several years she returned to North Van and worked until about 1970 when she moved to Glendora, California.  In her early California years she helped her aunt and uncle with their bar.  After a number of years working for a cable television company, she went into real estate, eventually getting her brokers' license.  During her real estate days she discovered the name of golf.  Eventually she retired from real estate when it interfered too much with her golf commitments.  Through golf she made many close friends.  With these friends not only did she play golf, but she traveled around the world, went to cultural events, and joined the Walkie Talkie walking group, with whom she went on more than 50 walks.  If Shirley was asked, "Let's go somewhere," she'd answer, "What time."  She had planned for a long and active retirement and was frustrated when her lung cancer cut her plans shor

Shirley was so frustrated that the cruel fate of cancer cut off her retirement fun so soon. She was ready to continue golfing, walking with friends, traveling, and enjoying new adventures with friends for many more years.
