Comments:

In 2008 I met my now husband Doug, and moved to the Quad Cities in 2010. We got married in May of 2012 , and bought a house in Silvis IL, just outside of the quad cities. I work part time for APAC in Davenport, and write on the side. Doug and I are both avid movie and documentary junkies and we love going to film festivals, around the country. When we are not doing that we spend time hanging around the house, gardening and cooking, and just enjoying being together. I feel like a very, very lucky lady.

School Story:

I loved Tech-I really did. I was most at home in Creative Writing, Mr Mattes's class, and Turners Print Shop. I loved my whole experience there-with the exception of the school closing in '84. There was no joy in being in the last graduating class. 25 years later and I still think closing that school was the biggest mistake this city ever made. I am sad to say that I've lost contact with just about all of my old friends. I hope to change that in the future.

What did you do right after High School?

I went to UNL-but I don't think I was ready for college. I ended up dropping out and getting married to fellow classmate Paul Brennan in '87. My dad died in 1989-that was very hard. Paul and I divorced in 1990. My mom then died in 1992. So to say my early 20's were difficult is an understatement. But, what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger I think. I like to think I got all of my mistakes out of the way early. LOL. I'll spare the soap opera details of my thirties.I worked in call center customer service for over 20 years. I met the love of my life, Doug Schehl in 2008, and married him in 2012. We now live in Illinois, just outside of the Quad Cities. Life is good.

Any Grand Kids?

No

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I love to travel, and love to go to Film Festivals all over. I write poetry and have competed as a Slam Poet since 2001, and published two volumes of poetry. I go to First Congregational Church in Moline, IL. I have become a Scrabble fiend, and will drop anything to play a game. I love to cook and entertain and have found that I'm actually very good at it.

Any Vices?

Yes

Where have you traveled?

I worked for Marriott, Hyatt and Carlson Hospitality for 15 years total and that gave me the opportunity to travel quite a bit. Let's see, I've been to. Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, Sacramento, Seattle, Vancouver, all over British Columbia, all over the Bahamas, Boston, Philadelphia, all over Florida, Texas, New Orleans, Mexico, Missouri, Tennessee, Washington DC, Chicago, Minnesota, the Dakotas. I think it is easier to say where I haven't been. LOL. Still hope to get to Europe and Australia in the next 5 years

How old do you feel?

hmmm that's hard. I still don't really feel like a grown up. I'd say I feel like 32.

Any Grey hair?

Yes

Did you have a nick name/s at Tech?

Sandy also known as Alans sister-which is a title I still have. I hear "Hey, aren't you Alans sister?" at least once a week.

Who was your favorite teacher?

tied between Mr Mattes and Mr Turner.

What was your favorite class?

Again a tie-Creative Writing and Graphics/Printing

What are your best memories from Tech?

Hanging out before school with my friends in the hall, or eating breakfast together. Best conversations ever. Loved the football and basketball game Fridays-going to Godfathers, after. My friends coming over to my house and playing cards. Loved the antics in the Print Shop. Loved learning how to express myself in writing.

Any Crazy Confessions?

Some things, I take to the grave.
