In Memory

Georgiann Stephens (Puskar)

Sadly I must report the passing of Georgiann Stephens Puskar from the class of '67.  I didn't know her very well but she would always say hi to me if our paths crossed. I have become friends with her younger sister, Lenora who lives in my neighborhood. A few summers ago, Georgiann came to visit Lenora and Lenora brought her to the pool where I had the opportunity to speak to her. Her health was frail but Georgiann looked good.

Curry & Giordano Funeral Home assisted her family with her arrangements. I do not see an obituary but thought you all would want to know.

Rest In Peace Georgiann?

Today Jason Puskar posted the obituary for his mother. Here it is:

Georgiann Puskar, age 73, a resident of Lancaster, N.Y., passed away on May 23, 2023 in Cheektowaga, N.Y. after a long fight with Multiple Sclerosis. She was born in Mount Vernon, N.Y. on July 30, 1949 and was a 1967 graduate of Peekskill High School, Peekskill, N.Y. and held administrative office positions including those at Union Carbide, Peekskill City School District, Field Home Holy Comforter and Prudential Richard Albert.

Georgiann was an avid reader and enjoyed keeping up with the latest music and fashion. She had many friends, but her struggle with MS took a toll on her ability to keep pace with her work life and social activities that she enjoyed so much. Through her pain and struggles, she kept her beauty, sense of humor, quick wit and love of family and those who knew her will remember her beautiful smile and personality.

Georgiann is survived by her son Jason Puskar of Fuquay-Varina, N.C., daughter Laura Puskar, and their father George Puskar of Peekskill and a grandson, Jacob Puskar of Lancaster, N.Y. She is also survived by her sister Lenora Haisley (Alan) of Fuquay-Varina, N.C, her niece Tara (William) Vannelli and their children, Mackenzie Ridgeway, and Wyatt Vannelli, as well as Mackenzie’s son Grayson Garrity of Apex, N.C. Also surviving are niece Amy (Gary) Krupski and their daughter Emma of Cheektowaga, N.Y. and niece Amanda Haisley of Raleigh, N.C. Georgiann is pre-deceased by her father and mother Leonard and Rose Marie Stephens and brother Leonard Stephens who passed away April 18, 2022.

Contributions in her memory to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society would be appreciated by many families.

It was a real shock to find out Georgiann died. I've known her ever since she married my cousin George Puskar. Throughout many years we shared so many memories and good times. Back then everyone lived in Peekskill and all the families partied together. It was fun. Georgiann was always having friends over with her bakery products always on hand and good conversation. She loved her jewelry and for awhile she worked for us part time because she wanted a few new rings!!! Lol   When Georgiann moved to Buffalo she tried to make the most of it and she did , buying her house and settling in. Georgiann will be missed ...and loved. May she Rest In Peace. Amen
