1983-1987: journalism program at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Viriginia; traveled to Germany, Austria, Switzerland, England, Wales with singing groups

1987-1992: Worked for Washington and Lee in alumni relations

1992-1995: Worked as a software consultant and trainer based out of Reston, Virginia; started ticking off the states I've visited (Maine, North and South Dakota, Montana, Idaho, Mississippi, New Mexico and Alaska still on the "to do" list)

1996-2004: Worked as a software consultant and trainer based out of San Francisco; traveled with friends to Ireland, England, Hong Kong, the Philippines, France, Spain, Mexico

2004-2006: Moved back in with Mom and Dad in Pennsauken to care for Dad, who eventually died of Alzheimer's Disease

2006-2008: Took nursing prerequisites and graduated from Thomas Jefferson University in May 2008 with a bachelor of science in nursing; will start in the neurology ICU at Jefferson Hospital for Neuroscience in August

I remember the feeling of doom at the state competition for choral groups when the Double Dozen was performing the jazz numbers "Birdland" and "Satin Doll." All the other groups were flashy with choreography and sounded great. Before we performed, another group sang one of the songs we had prepared. We were sunk! Mrs. DiAmore pulled us together, Christine Jones belted out her scat solo, and we rocked the house. After returning to Pennsauken, we learned we had won first place in our category!
