Other interesting details:
In June 1969 I married Bob Witt. Fourteen years later we had a son, Tyler. Sadly, after 34 years of marriage, Bob and I divorced in 2003. Entering the dating scene at age 55 was challenging. I was encouraged to join a dating site and I selected Match.com. What a riot. Weeding through over 10,000 responses was like a part-time job! I dated several wonderful men, but their roots were firmly planted in Michigan. I had my mind set on eventually retiring and moving to Arizona. My dear friend and clients had moved from Saginaw to Arizona, and I was traveling out there to do some design work for them, so I put their zip code into my search and up popped another 325 possibilities. Jim fit my 3 top priorities: he was Lutheran, a Republican, and loved to play golf! So on my next trip to AZ I arranged to have a date with him, and that was the beginning of our long-distance relationship, aided by web-cam and alternating visits to see eachother every 6 to 8 weeks. We got engaged July 2007. In December of that year I retired, moved across the country, we bought a lot, built a house and planned a wedding. Whew! We married February 7, 2009.
In February of 2014, just 5 days after celebrating our anniversary, we lost our home and our little dog in a devastating fire that started at an electrical outlet. We had left the house only 30 minutes prior to the fire flashing. You can imagine how grateful we are to be alive. It took 14 months to rebuild, during which time we had to move 6 times. Our wonderful friends and neighbors, as well as total strangers, we're all so helpful and supportive. We live in such a fabulous community. We moved back into our reconstructed home April of 2015. We made some great changes to the floor plan and love it even more than the original.
I still have my house in Midland, Michigan. We spend our summers there. My son Tyler and his wife, Nicole, also live in Midland. We are able to get together with them often, and occasionally get to dog sit for their furbabies - Daisy and Tucker.
I have several other family members we get to see, as well as former MLS classmates and former co-workers.
We spend our summer playing golf and traveling "up north" and to our favorite spots on the west side of the state.
