After graduating from high school, I decided that I would go to Grossmont College for two years. I graduated from Grossmont College in 1983 with an AA degree in General Education. I changed my major a couple of times and ended up going to California State University, Long Beach (CSULB). I got a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Science with options in Community Health Education and School Health. I graduated from CSULB in May of 1987. I moved back to San Diego and I worked temporary for UCSD (various work locations) for approximately one year. I decided I wanted a career as a teacher (I come from a family of teachers). I got accepted into the teaching program at SDSU in the Fall of 1988. I graduated from the teaching program in December of 1990. I enjoyed doing my student teaching in the Santee School District. I substitute taught for a number of years before getting a full-time contract in the Fall of 1996. I have worked at about five schools all over San Diego. I have taught 8th grade (Algebra, Reading, and Science), Kindergarten, First Grade, K-1, Transitional Kindergarten, Universal Transitional Kindergarten. I have been teaching kindergarten for most of my career. I love seeing little people grow and learn so much!!
I went back to SDSU in Fall, 2001 and got my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I graduated in Spring, 2003.
I met my husband in May, 1994. He is a retired
(March 15, 2018) San Diego Police Officer. He had 28 years of service with the SDPD. We got married in October, 1995. We have two children and they were in a dual language spanish program from kindergarten - fifth grade. My daughter Victoria, 23, graduated from The University of Arizona on May 9th and 10th, 2019 in 3 years with a degree in Communication and a minor in Business Administration. She is/was completely bilingual in Spanish, and my son Nicholas, 21, is/was also completely bilingual in Spanish. My Spanish consists of what I took in Junior High and in High School. Nicholas is attending UC Davis with a major in Biochemistry/Molecular Biology. He is a Senior this year (2022-2023). Nicholas is planning on going to Graduate School next year to pursue his Master's Degree in Forensic Science. I am teaching Universal Transitional Kindergarten at Hickman Elementary School in Mira Mesa (2022-2023).
