Ms McCracken,

I enjoyed her Spanish class and her smile and she was in control and friendly....

I didn't have Ms McCracken as a teacher, but she is one of my favorites too.  She has always had a great deal of interest in our class and has attended most of our class reunions.  She recently lost her husband, Bert.  I hope she will be able to come to our reunion next year.

I guess my favorite teachers were Freda Dimmick Kriminger, Ruth Cotton and Edna Earle Yarborough.  One of the reasons is that each of them also taught my daddy.

Edna Earle was probably my all-time favorite because she also taught Glee Club.  I honestly think that was the love of her life.  She certainly did a wonderful job with the Glee Club and all of her students had a lot of fun singing for her.  At times, she could be quite a cut-up too.  Also, she wrote some mighty kind (undeserving) words in my senior annual  and I will never forget that.

Has to be Freda Kriminger - she taught me to write, although I resisted.  That ability got me into an advanced writing class in college (Western Carolina) - and no one was more surprised than me!  And it has sustained me through 45 years in the military/healthcare industry.  Thank goodness for all of them, but I credit her with much of whatever success I have enjoyed.

My favorite teacher was the late Mary Carter, the mother of Charles (Buzz) Carter.  She took a special interest in every individual student and was always there for each one.  I lost my mother in 11th grade.  Mrs. Carter was prompt to visit my home and offer her support.

In spite of her tender side she was a task master in the classroom.  I had two classes under her direction at Sanford Central and ended up just a bit brighter by terms' ends in both of them.

I always thought that Buzz was lucky to have her as a mom, and I appreciated his sharing her with us as students.
