After graduation I went to nursing school at Gadsden State. I became a Registered Nurse in 1996 and am still at it. A year after graduation I married Tim Schaffer. We were married for 11 yrs and had 3 beautiful girls. Tim & I divorced in 2005. We get along better now than ever. In 2006, I met and married the most wonderful man in the whole world, Phil Hood. He is an absolute perfect husband and stepfather and my soul mate. Together, we have 4 daughters (3 are mine, 1 is his). We spend all of our time running between work, church, Girl Scouts, swim meets, and softball games. Phil is Respiratory Therapist and we both work at UAB Hospital in critical care. I would say that the most significant change in my life is that in 2006 I decided to quit "playing church" and become a real Christian. That's right people, I'm a Jesus freak:). Phil & I are very invovled in ministry at our church, DayStar Christian Center. And if everything goes as planned, we are leaving the day after Thanksgiving to go to Africa for a short term mission trip. We will primarily be working in the very small country of Swaziland in southern Africa. Swaziland has a 50% population infected with AIDS (the highest in the world). There are literally thousands of children who have been orphaned due to the AIDS epidemic. Phil & I will be working in an orphanage and going hut to hut giving medical care and sharing the gospel. Please pray for us!! I can't wait to see everybody. God bless.
