Still working or retired?

RETIRED. After 39 years working in healthcare administration finally decided enough was enough! Don't regret a moment of my professional career, but it was time to enjoy the fruits of our labor. Retired in 2013 and have stayed in that status. Still have a closet full of suits, but have never found the need for anything but jeans, and short sleeve shirts. Thought about moving back to Texas, but honestly just too many people down there. We opted to move from Columbus, Ohio to Knoxville, Tn on the western edge of the county. One of my brothers recently asked if I ever get homesick? my answer was "where is home?". We have lived in California, Alabama, Mississippi, Montana, Delaware, Illinois, Ohio, and now Tennessee. We spent most of the 80's living abroad in England and Japan. Now we enjoy visiting with the four kids and growing number of grandchildren. I spend most of my time learning how to mix colorful flowers, playing a stringed instrument, learning Spanish, flying small 6 seater airplanes and occasionally teaching undergrads in healthcare administration.

Grand kids:

Lauren & Angelie, born 1995 (double trouble), Joshua, born 2005, Maddie Jean, born 2009, Maxwell born in May 2012.

How old do you feel?

Younger than I look. I try to work out several days a week, but the lure of putting off a workout gets stronger as I get older.

School Story:

1975 - Graduated from Wayland Baptist University, Bachelor of Science degree in Business

1991 Graduated from Oklahoma University, Master Degree Public Administration.

2001 - Graduated from Regis University with a MBA

Do you still see/talk to/hang out with any classmates? Who?

No - Not intentional, but first career had us between California and Delaware, overseas twice. Second and third career kept us in the midwest (Illinois and Ohio), so opportunity has been limited to stay in touch. We experienced the out of sight out of mind phase.

States you've lived in:

Mississippi, Alabama, California, Montana, Delaware, Illinois, Ohio, Texas, Japan and United Kingdom

Countries you've visited:

Japan, UK, Phillipines, England, Germany, Korea, Italy, Denmark and Scotland,

Comments:

Enjoy life and the people you meet. As we continue to grow older I view it as an opportunity to "Pay it Forward".

Military career in healthcare kept us on the move, relocating every two to three years. Had the privelege and honor of meeting many people from all walks of life, many who made a lasting impression. After retirement entered into civilian healthcare, having the opportunity to be the CEO at numerous facilities throughout Illinois and Ohio. Am now working for a health system in Columbus helping create a stronger network between system hospitals and independent community hospitals.

My good fortune was to meet and marry an Ohio red-head in Ft. Worth of all places. We have been together ever since and if the stars align correctly we will be together as we cross over the bridge to the next life.

Steve and I roomed together during our Freshman year of college.  We lost touch after that.  Steve was a joy to be around.  He was bright and was always trying to improve himself to take on future challenges.  Rest in Peace my friend.
