Folke, Ann (Wells) – 614 Plutarch Road, Highland, NY 12528. Telephone (845) 255-3671. I received a BS in speech from Northwestern in 1955 as well as 6 hours of graduate credit in musical comedy from Western Reserve. I was a statistician at the University of Chicago (do you believe it?) while sporadically acting, stage managing and designing sets & lights in Chicago. In 1961, the U of C gave me an acting award – a 1948 wooden body station wagon. We named her Florence, after a character I played in Giradoux’ “Song of Songs.” My professional debut was as Bloody Mary in “South Pacific” (a fifth lower than Juanita Hall) in Sullivan, IL where I spent 4 summers stage-managing, something I also did in Taos, NM, Snowmass, CO and Arlington Heights, IL. I assisted lighting designer Jules Fisher in 8 off-Broadway shows and pre-Broadway tryouts of “Anyone Can Whistle” and High Spirits” (recited Milton to Noel Coward at his request.) I ran the rental department of a major stage lighting company, edited a theatrical directory, and was production manager at St. Clements Church in Manhattan. My husband is Terry Wells to whom I was married in 1966.
