The Stamford High School Class of 1951 Scholarship Fund

The Stamford High School Class of 1951 Scholarship Fund is an endowed fund that was established with the Fairfield County Community Foundation in 2001 to commemorate our 50the Reunion. With an initial grant of $50,000, it became the first and only permanently endowed scholarship fund in the name of a class at Stamford High School.  Subsequent grants of $10,000 in 2006 to commemorate our 55th Reunion, $40,000 in 2011 to commemorate our 60th Reunion, $48,000 in 2016 to commemorate our 65th Reunion, $25,000 in honor of our 71th Reunion Luncheon, and appreciation of invested assets, have brought the current Fund balance in October, 2022 to $200,000.

The selection criteria of our Fund are as follows: For graduating seniors at SHS who have (1) demonstrated financial need, (2) overcome physical, financial, emotional or academic adversity, (3) shown positive academic achievement, and (4) possess good citizenship and character. The following language is also added: It is the wish that the awards will be used as a basis to encourage graduating seniors to attend college who might not otherwise have done so or aspire to and achieve a position in a four year college, junior or community college which is more challenging than that which such students would have otherwise sought in the absence of the award. The faculty and guidance personnel at SHS, under the direction of the Principal, select the recipients of the award.

Starting in 2018, three scholarship awards of $2,500 each have been made each year. For the last four years, the recipients and the schools they attended are as follows:  2019- Daniela Labrador attended Southern CT State; Nicole Monterroso attended Uconn Stamford, and Raeign McNair atttended Manhattanville College. 2020 - Wendy Lopez attended Uconn Stamford; Matthew Gonda and Alexandra Blas both attended Uconn Storrs. 2021 - Annalise Fabricatore attended Quinnipiac College; Kathrina Exantus attended Uconn Storrs, and Neisha Boiteux attended Umass Darthmouth. 2022 - Eugene Logvinski, Katie Tutillo, and Yeison Beltran all attended Uconn Storrs.
