Morton Pepper Marts, USAF Col. Ret., born January 6, 1934 in White Plains NY, was 83 when he died peacefully at his Albuquerque home on January 11, 2017 in the care of his loving family.

He graduated from Stamford High School in Connecticut in 1951 and went on to be commissioned into the USAF after graduating from Cornell University in New York in 1955.

He met his late wife Linda at Cornell, he a freshman and she a sophomore. They married in 1954 and raised five children to love books, art and music.

After military retirement in 1979, they moved to Albuquerque and quickly found St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, which became their top priority for the rest of their lives. Smart, dedicated, compassionate, helpful, and funny, Pepper will be remembered as a loving man who was well-loved and is already missed by many.

Pepper was preceded in death by his parents and brother, his wife of 61 years Linda, and their second child, Helen Murphy.

He is succeeded by Katherine Marts-Foster (Alan Foster) of Windsor Heights, IA, Gordon (Susan) Marts of Santa Fe, Hilary Powell of Windsor Heights, IA, Warren Marts (Eileen Comstock) of Soccoro, and Helen's husband Paul Murphy of Montclair, NJ. His brilliance is carried by ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren so far.

A memorial service will be at St. Michael and All Angels, 601 Montano Rd. NW, Albuquerque, New Mexico 87107 on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 2:00pm. Memorial Contributions should be directed to his church at the preceding addresses, www.all-angels.com or
