Barbara F. Serafin, 80, lifelong resident of Stamford, CT, passed away at Stamford Hospital on Tuesday, May 20, 2014. She was born August 8, 1933 to the late Michael and Albina (Kulka) Serafin.
Born and raised in Stamford, Barbara attended Stamford schools and graduated from Stamford High School with the class of 1951. She went on to attend the University of Vermont in Burlington, VT and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in 1955. Following graduation she went to work for General Electric in an administrative role where she was a valued employee for many years. She decided to further her education in the mid-1970s and earned a Masters of Business Administration degree from New York University in New York City. She moved on from GE and went to work at Pitney Bowes where she was a dedicated and loyal employee until her retirement at the age of 70. Barbara was a true friend and a positive influence on both friends and family alike. She was also a lifelong friend of animals, and made every effort to provide for their care, health and welfare.
Barbara is survived by her niece; Michelle Serafin-Viesta, of Stamford, six first cousins; Cortland E. Mehl, of Stamford, Louise Virgilio (Edward), of Albertson, NY, Barbara Schmidt (Robert), of Plainview, NY, Raymond Kulka, Sr., of Orange, CT, Marion Kulka, of Kona, HI, and Francis Serafin, of West Hartford, CT. In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her brother; William Serafin. Barbara's family gives special heartfelt thanks to Benny, Lena and Pia Romano for being such caring and compassionate friends and neighbors to Barbara. Their genuine kindness is greatly appreciated.
Barbara's family will receive the sympathy of friends and family on the evening of Friday, May 23rd from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Avenue, Stamford, CT 06902. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on the morning of Saturday, May 24th at 9 a.m. at St. Mary R.C. Church, 566 Elm Street, in Stamford. Interment will follow mass at St. John R.C. Cemetery, 25 Camp Avenue, in Darien.

The family has entrusted the funeral arrangements to Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Avenue, in Stamford.
