Evelyn M. Vitting,

A longtime Norwalk resident, died Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000 at Norwalk Hospital. She was 68.

She died of lymphoma, according to her family.

Born Sept. 29, 1932, in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Margaret Gallagher Vitting.

Ms. Vitting was a secretary at Pitney Bowes in Stamford for 45 years before retiring in 1992. She was a member and former president of the Oval Club and a member and former secretary of the Business and Professional Women's Club. She also was a member of the Pitney Bowes Employee Association, Pitney Bowes Golden Oldies and Pitney Bowes Credit Union.

She is survived by a brother, Norman Vitting of Glen Rock, N.J.; two nephews; and several cousins.

There are no calling hours.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, 2000 at St. Stephen Church, 6948 Main St., Trumbull.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Norwalk Hospital Cancer Center, 24 Stevens St., Norwalk, CT 06856.
