MERIDEN - Thomas E. Herold Sr., 78, passed away peacefully on Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, at Apple Rehab Coccomo after fighting a long courageous battle with diabetes and dementia. He was the husband of Marie (Prunotto) Herold, his beloved wife of 53 years.

Tom was born on Jan. 17, 1934, in Stamford, the son of the late John and Phyllis (Burr) Herold. He was a graduate of Stamford High School. Tom proudly served in the U.S. Air force during the Korean Conflict. He was a longtime resident of Meriden and was employed as a lithographer for Colortone in Branford from where he retired after many years of service. Tom was a member of the American Legion and the Elks Club. He was an avid New York Giant and Yankee fan. Tom was a loving husband, father, Boppy and friend, known for his great sense of humor, he will be greatly missed.

Mr. Herold is survived by his son, Thomas E. Herold Jr., and his wife, Nandra of Vermont; two daughters, Lorraine C. Robinson, of Meriden, Denise A. Putnam and her husband, Dan, of Meriden; a sister, Ann Klumac, of Stamford; three grandchildren, Joel Robinson, Kara Robinson, Justin Ingrum, all of Meriden; many nieces and nephews; and his faithful canine companion, "Roxy". He was predeceased by three brothers; and four sisters.

His family would like to thank the staff at Apple Rehab Coccomo for the devoted care given to him.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Saturday, Nov. 24, from 1:30 until 3:30 p.m. at the Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden. His funeral service with military honors will be held at 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be private.
