VERNON SOLDIER, RICHARD DURANT DIES IN VIETNAM Word has been received of the death of PFC Richard Henry Durant, 20, of RD 1, Seneca Turnpike. He was killed in action March 12 in Vietnam. Born in Oneida, April 21, 1949, he was the son of Henry and Lillian Lust Durant. He was educated in the Vernon-Verona-Sherrill School system. Upon graduation in 1968 he entered Onondaga Community College. Prior to his entering the service, he was employed as an assistant produce manager at the P & C food market, Oneida. He was a communicant of St. Catherine's Church, Vernon, where on March 29, 1969 he married the former Velia Cacciatori of Camden. Surviving besides his wife, who resides with her father, Lewis Cacciatori of Camden, are his parents; two brothers Michael of Oneida Castle and Donald Durant, at home; two sisters, Jeanne and Janice Durant, both at home; his maternial grandmother, Mrs. Elizabeth Jones of Vernon; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
