As difficult as it may seem to believe, it has been 65 years since we were sent out into the world as newly-minted graduates of Webster Groves High School in 1959. That means that 2024 is time for our

65th Class Reunion

As mentioned in the most recent email to the class, we have contracted with the Webster Groves Historical Society to hold the reunion in the Hearth Room at the Historic Hawken House Museum in Webster Groves.  Hawken House is an 1867 house museum,  and the Hearth Room is a banquet center in the 35-year old annex that also houses the Historical Society’s archives.  They are located 1/4 mile south of Big Bend in Southwest Park at 1155 S Rock Hill Road. The date of the reunion will be

Friday, September 20, 2024 from 4 to 9 PM.

This site was chosen both for its convenience and its historic significance to Webster Groves. We will continue working  on  activity and menu planning.

Several activities will be scheduled for earlier in the day, before the reunion, including a high school tour  (Boy, has that place changed in the past 65 years!) and perhaps the new Little Theatre (which isn’t so little any more).  Any ideas or suggestions you have for other things for us to do will be greatly appreciated. The address again is

WebsterGroves59@gmail.com

Spouses, significant others and guests are, of course, welcome to attend the festivities. If you know a classmate who has been meaning to create a profile on the website but hasn’t yet, this would be a good time to encourage him or her to do so.  In another month or so, we will start trying to get a tentative attendance figure.

IMPORTANT CHANGE -

HOW DO I KNOW AN EMAIL ISN'T A SCAM?

I just received an email from the Webster Class of 1959, but how can I tell whether it’s genuine?

The database of our class shows 281 living and 139 deceased classmates. Of the living classmates, 109 have created profiles on the class website and 165 have not yet done so. When an email is generated by the website to notify the class of something, it is sent to all 274 living classmates. (As a side note, 274 people is probably not enough to constitute an attractive target group for any but a mathematically-challenged scammer.)

Emails from the class will always come from this sender “Webster Groves High School Class Of 1959.” The email address of the sender will be “noreply@classcreator.net.”

Further to those safeguards, if you receive an email purporting to be from the WG Class of 1959 and you have any question about it, don’t respond to it or click on anything in it, but instead send a separate email to the class’s email address: webstergroves59@gmail.com and mention your concerns. One of us will respond to you.

Deceased Classmates

One of the downsides of being the Class of 1959 continues to be that we are increasingly confronted with the loss of classmates. If you learn of a member of our class who has died, please let us know by sending an email to us at

webstergroves59@gmail.com

with the information. A link to an obituary is also helpful.

In addition, if you have any reminiscences, comments or pictures you'd like to post about anyone in the In Memoriam section, please feel free to do so.

Adding Photos to your Profile

You may have noticed that some of your classmates have added a photo, or photos, to their profiles. This is easy to do. Go to the item in the title bar labelled "First Time Visitors," then look at number 6 for photo instructions. Who knows? Some of us may be getting coffee at the same Starbucks without realizing it. A picture will help.
