NEW UPDATE:
65th Class Reunion

As mentioned in the most recent email to the class, the reunion will be held in the Hearth Room at the Historic Hawken House Museum in Webster Groves.  Hawken House is located 1/4 mile south of Big Bend in Southwest Park at 1155 S Rock Hill Road. The date of the reunion will be

Friday, September 20, 2024 from 4 to 9 PM.

The meal will consist of heavy appetizers, including chicken sliders, crab Rangoon, assorted croissant sandwiches, vegetable tray with dips, jumbo gulf shrimp cocktail and gourmet petite burgers. Beverages will include iced tea, beer and a selection of both red and white wines. There will be an ice cream station with chocolate and vanilla ice cream plus various accompaniments. Thanks once again to the generosity of several classmates, we have been able to keep the cost for the reunion at $40 for each attendee. An optional tour of the high school will also be offered at 4:00 p.m. on the 20th

to confirm your attendance. Let us know if you are coming alone or bringing one or more guests.

If you responded to an earlier announcement saying that you wanted to attend but were not yet sure you could make it, please confirm your attendance.

Regardless of the path that led you to attendance at the reunion, here is the crucial next step:

Send a check for $40 for each attendee payable to the WG59 Reunion to:

            Doug Wilton
            395 Benbow Court
            Ballwin, MO 63011

no later than September 12, 2024.

If you have any questions about any of the above, please email the class at WebsterGroves59@gmail.com or call Steve Wagner at (314) 730-7049

Unlike our annual mini-reunions, food and beverage planning for this reunion requires knowing an exact number of people planning to attend. If you have been meaning to RSVP to the earlier email invitation  but have not yet done so, now would be a good time to do that.

Just send an email to the class at

WebsterGroves59@gmail.com

and let us know (1) how many in your party, and (2) their names.

If you have any questions, feel free to email as well and we will do our best to answer tem.

As we said before, spouses, significant others and guests are, of course, welcome to attend the festivities. If you know a classmate who has been meaning to create a profile on the website but hasn’t yet, this would be a good time to encourage him or her to do so.

IMPORTANT CHANGE -

HOW DO I KNOW AN EMAIL ISN'T A SCAM?

I just received an email from the Webster Class of 1959, but how can I tell whether it’s genuine?

The database of our class shows 281 living and 179 deceased classmates. Of the living classmates, 107 have created profiles on the class website and 165 have not yet done so. When an email is generated by the website to notify the class of something, it is sent to all 274 living classmates. (As a side note, 274 people is probably not enough to constitute an attractive target group for any but a mathematically-challenged scammer.)

Emails from the class will always come from this sender “Webster Groves High School Class Of 1959.” The email address of the sender will be “noreply@classcreator.net.”

Further to those safeguards, if you receive an email purporting to be from the WG Class of 1959 and you have any question about it, don’t respond to it or click on anything in it, but instead send a separate email to the class’s email address: webstergroves59@gmail.com and mention your concerns. One of us will respond to you.

Deceased Classmates

One of the downsides of being the Class of 1959 continues to be that we are increasingly confronted with the loss of classmates. If you learn of a member of our class who has died, please let us know by sending an email to us at

webstergroves59@gmail.com

with the information. A link to an obituary is also helpful.

In addition, if you have any reminiscences, comments or pictures you'd like to post about anyone in the In Memoriam section, please feel free to do so.

Adding Photos to your Profile

You may have noticed that some of your classmates have added a photo, or photos, to their profiles. This is easy to do. Go to the item in the title bar labelled "First Time Visitors," then look at number 6 for photo instructions. Who knows? Some of us may be getting coffee at the same Starbucks without realizing it. A picture will help.
