Webster Groves High School
Class of 1959
The 65th Reunion of the WGHS Class of 1959 Is now behind us. A total of 42 classmates and guests gathered in the Hearth Room of the Webster Groves Historical Society’s Hawken House Museum on Friday, September 20th. The Hearth Room was an excellent venue for our gathering. We enjoyed a catered meal of heavy appetizers and an open bar with wine and beer. There was also a popular ice cream station.
The most important part of the evening, of course, was the opportunity to talk with other members of the class and catch up on their latest news. Thanks to the generosity of the following classmates, we were able to keep the cost per attendee down to $40 per person:
Frank Dooling, Marian Olson Rusk, Doug Orms, John Russell, Steve Wagner, Yvonne Wagner Daume and Doug Wilton.
We will also be able to maintain the class website and continue the annual “mini-reunions” for the foreseeable future.
A number of pictures were taken on the 20th. They have now been sorted through and posted to the class website.
Will there be a 70th Reunion in five years? If anyone has access to a reliable crystal ball, please take a look and tell us what you see.
HOW DO I KNOW AN EMAIL ISN'T A SCAM?
I just received an email from the Webster Class of 1959, but how can I tell whether it’s genuine?
The database of our class shows 281 living and 182 deceased classmates. Of the living classmates, 107 have created profiles on the class website and 165 have not yet done so. When an email is generated by the website to notify the class of something, it is sent to all 274 living classmates. (As a side note, 274 people is probably not enough to constitute an attractive target group for any but a mathematically-challenged scammer.)
Emails from the class will always come from this sender “Webster Groves High School Class Of 1959.” The email address of the sender will be “noreply@classcreator.net.”
Further to those safeguards, if you receive an email purporting to be from the WG Class of 1959 and you have any question about it, don’t respond to it or click on anything in it, but instead send a separate email to the class’s email address: webstergroves59@gmail.com and mention your concerns. One of us will respond to you.
Deceased Classmates
One of the downsides of being the Class of 1959 continues to be that we are increasingly confronted with the loss of classmates. If you learn of a member of our class who has died, please let us know by sending an email to us at
webstergroves59@gmail.com
with the information. A link to an obituary is also helpful.
In addition, if you have any reminiscences, comments or pictures you'd like to post about anyone in the In Memoriam section, please feel free to do so.
Adding Photos to your Profile
You may have noticed that some of your classmates have added a photo, or photos, to their profiles. This is easy to do. Go to the item in the title bar labelled "First Time Visitors," then look at number 6 for photo instructions. Who knows? Some of us may be getting coffee at the same Starbucks without realizing it. A picture will help.
