Joe Brookshire (August 2, 1940 - January 10, 2003)

Mr. Brookshire was born in Washington, D.C., a son of the late Queen Victoria Cunningham and Josef Orville Brookshire. An Army veteran, he was awarded the Bronze Star, Air Medal, and Distinguished Flying Cross. He was a member of the Vietnam Veterans Association, the University of Alabama Association, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, and the USC Alumni Association.

A brother, Daniel K. Brookshire, of Columbia, SC survives him. Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral service in Columbia will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Laughlin Service Chapel with the Rev. Joe Estes officiating; the family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Huntsville, Alabama.
