Robert Henry Junghans

Bob Junghans  (September 30, 1941 - September 3, 2009)

                                          
Robert "Bob" Henry Junghans came into this world in St. Louis, MO. He passed into eternity at 67 years of age, in Joplin, MO. He lived his early years in Webster Groves, MO, graduating from high school and then joining the U.S. Navy, serving from August, 1959, to September, 1962. Upon discharge, he lived in Indianapolis, IN, working at Stokely-Van Camp's can manufacturing plant.

He met and married Marion Meyers in Osgood, IN; this union produced a daughter, Lynn. Bob and his brother opened their first KFC in Joplin in December, 1965. He went on to involve himself in various endeavors. He loved working with antiques, spending many weekends attending auctions and farm sales with his very special friend, Nancy Casper.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William H. and Elizabeth A. Brown Junghans; and his nephew, Kurt Kemper. He is survived by his daughter, Lynn Cumberworth and her husband, Mike; grandchildren, Kelsey and Caleb Cumberworth, all of Versailles, IN; sister, Marilyn Kemper and her husband, Kenn, of Glendale, AZ; brother, William David Junghans and his wife, Sherrell, of Joplin;  Nancy Casper, her daughter, Jennifer, and her grand-children, Chloe and Shae, of Joplin; and many other nieces and nephews and their families.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday Sept. 8, at Parker Chapel. Interment will follow in Osborne Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at the mortuary.
