Gregory Edmond LaGarce

Greg LaGarce (August 6, 1941 - March 16, 2016)

Mr. Gregory LaGarce Hewitt, age 74, a resident of Lewisburg, TN previously of St. Louis, MO, passed away March 16, 2016. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 19th at 4:00 PM at Roselawn Cemetery in Murfreesboro. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Greg was born on August 6, 1941 in St. Louis, Missouri, but Middle Tennessee was his home for over 40 years. He was the son of the late Edmond C. LaGarce and the late Vera Gagan LaGarce. Greg was a lifelong owner, breeder, and enthusiast of the American Saddlebred Horse with an extensive knowledge of historical pedigrees. He was one of the founding members of the Lord’s Chapel in Bell Meade with the Rev. Billy Roy Moore in the 1970s.

Greg was a 1955 graduate of St. James the Greater School in St. Louis and a 1959 Graduate of Webster Groves High School in St. Louis. He earned his associates degree from St. Louis University, and he attended Catholic Seminary for several years. Greg never met a stranger and always put others first. He was a positive person who could always brighten your day. He had a great sense of humor and could make anyone laugh and feel good.

He is survived by his daughter Lisa Magario of St. Louis, MO; sisters Elaine LaGarce of Franklin, TN and Beverly Melvin of Clearwater, FL; brothers Dan (Marsha) LaGarce, Sr. of Clarksville, TN and Jeff Hewitt of Lewisburg, TN; three nieces, two nephews, and several great-nieces and nephews.

Greg is buried at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Murfreesboro, TN. (At some point, he added the surname Hewitt to LaGarce, presumably a step-father's name.)
