Barb Shaw Bahlow (January 11, 1942 ~ September 27, 2016)

Barbara L. Bahlow, 74, of Springfield, Illinois, passed away at 6:30 am Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2016 at Concordia Village Care Center.

Barb was born in St. Louis, Missouri on Jan. 11, 1942, the daughter of Oliver and Virginia Lee (Barber) Shaw. She married Walter Paul Schauman September 1964 and he preceded her in death in November 1969. She married Gary R. Bahlow on June 23, 1984, and he survives her. She is also survived by a step-son, Clay (Janie) Bahlow; her sister, Terry (David) Clark; a niece, Ginny Lynne Clark; a nephew, Andrew David (Kelly Marie Felton) Clark; two great nephews, and a great niece. Her parents and brother, Richard Shaw, also preceded her in death.

She graduated from Purdue University, Class of 1963 earning her Bachelor of Arts in Spanish. Barb had a full work career. She worked for Purina, Merck Pharmaceuticals, and Barnes/Children's Hospital.

She was a member of Cherry Hills Baptist Church and a supporter of the American Baptist Assembly in Green Lake WI. Because of her love and devotion for the community, she volunteered at the Memorial Home Hospice, the Gift Shop at Memorial Medical Center, and The American Baptist Assembly. She had a passion for traveling with husband Gary, and they were found frequently in Wisconsin, Florida, and Mississippi.
