Jay Hase Teutenberg, Jr.

Jay Teutenberg  (March 4, 1942 - February 22, 2024)

Jay Hase Teutenberg, Jr., 81, of St. Louis, MO, died in Venice, Florida after a short hospitalization. Jay was born to Jay Hase Teutenberg and Gwendolyn Elizabeth Fitzgerald Teutenberg. He attended Western Military Academy in Alton, IL, graduating from Webster High School located in Webster Groves in 1959 before heading to Westminster College in Fulton, MO.

He graduated from Washington University in 1965 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Engineering. Jay worked for Angelica Uniform Corporation beginning June 12th, 1967, with 32 years of loyal service, retiring February 26th, 1999. He was a member of the Missouri Jaycees and was a longstanding member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in St. Louis, including vestry, finance committee, as well as winning third place in the 5th Annual Marks Bros. Dart Tournament in 1986 and in 1987 Bull's Eye Champion. In 2003 he relocated to Venice, Florida with Ms. Patsy Vernon.

Jay was an avid Barbershopper, singing bass in the Lemon Bay Chord Company, and Venice Gondoliers, and was Barbershopper of the Year in 2009 and 2019.

Jay was preceded in death by his parents mentioned above and his sister, Anne Teutenberg Richardson (Webster Groves HS Class of 1962), and is survived by his former wife Leslie Kaiser Teutenberg and son Jay H. Teutenberg, III of Linn Creek, MO, as well as daughter Laurel Teutenberg Raines and granddaughter Monterey Kaiser Teutenberg Reetz of Centralia, MO.

Graveside services will be held for friends and family April 6th, 2024 with a gathering immediately following. Please reach out to the immediate family via social media outlets for location and time(s) of events. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Barbershop Harmony Society or the charity of your choice.
