Darrell Alleyne   (D. 2012)

was a close childhood friend of mine. He took me to the prom.

His Mom and mine were best friends.  He was the oldest of six boys.  He held high school records for long jump and trible jump in track.and field.  He was married to Brenda for 43 years.  He joined the Nassau County Police Deparment in October 1969, where he became a Detective in 1985..  He served the force for 23 years. After retirement he and Brenda relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina. where he became very active in the community.  He had a son (Michael) and a daughter (Leslie), and a grandson.  His parents are Virgina (d) and Walter Spencer who are wonderful people.

I write this because though our paths were completely separate as adults,  I do miss Darrell and want him to be mentioned because I feel that he should be respresented at the reunion.  He was so athletic and such a man of character and strength.  When my Mom passed, he took me to help me make the arrangements.  I will never forget him. He was such a special person.

Darrell was a sweet, gentle man. He was always so kind to me. He Darrell  sat near me in many classes, especially when we were put in alpha order.  I am so glad Jean wrote that beautiful piece. What a loss!

Jean I remember Darrell very well.  He was such a nice, kind human being.  I am glad that he had a good life.
