Update, I finished my PhD in August 2020 and started working on mission planning. I'm known at work now as Dr. Don or Doc. I just finished submitting a proposal to supply NASA with a Lunar Surface Observatory with two Quadrupole Mass-Spectrometers I have been developing. This is for the Artemis III mission and my box would be placed on the surface of the Moon by an astronaut. Cool thing: One of my Co-Investigators is the actual Apollo Astronaut that deployed the last mass spectrometer on the Moon, Harrison 'Jack' Schmitt.
Things are goin' great and they're only gettin' better... my future's so bright, I gotta wear shades!
I still don't know what I want to do when I grow up. My latest project was the design of a 12kg spacecraft to measure the solar wind at Mars. Maybe after I get my PhD I can slow down.... but why spoil the fun. Update: I finished my PhD in Space Physics in August 2020... still not slowing down.
