School Story:
Remember 42nd Street Station in the disco days of "Saturday Night Fever?" I'll never forget it. I technically wasn't allowed to go, so I told my parents I was spending the night with Sharan Fernandez. When my dad called Mrs. Fernandez, bless her heart, she told him we'd be home by 12:30 - we were dancing at 42nd Street. Oops. In the middle of my movin' and groovin' on the dance floor, the lights came on and the music stopped. I was horrified to see my father reprimanding the bouncer for letting underaged teens into the club (namely me). The P.A. system blasts "Janna Mathis, please come to the front - your father is here." I was then escorted out of the club and into my father's chariot. A white Ford station wagon with wood on the side. He even had the FLASHERS on. I thought I was going to die. Or at the very least, never go to school again.
Loved the football games and hanging out at Burger Chef afterwards! Beach week was great too!
I'll never forget how "roomy" Tammy Pridgen's red V.W. bug was. It could fit Tammy, Terri Tanos, Maria Quevedo, Denise Thompson, Sharan Fernandez, Joni Pipes and me.
I still live in Tampa, enjoying life with Rick and my rescue mutts, Parlay and Teaser. My stepdaughter, Lindsay, is married and also lives in Tampa. My daughter, Jenn, is a student at UF and having fun in Gainesville. She plans to move to Orlando when she graduates in May. I work part time as a criminal defense paralegal - a job that I love and have been doing for the past 20 years. My husband retired from Ford Motor Company and is now our designated "yard and pool guy." We love home, but also love to play in Vegas as often as possible. It's great to see what everyone has been up to and I'm looking forward to the reunion!
