Dr Ken Scholtz passed away in 2024 but I am just adding a link to his obituary (2026).  He was our beloved high school principal from Sophomore through Senior years and served Hampton schools through the year 2000!  He made an indelible mark on our schools which enriched thousands of students through his caring and outstanding leadership.  I had run into him on occasion (mostly at Hampton school events) and was always surprised he remembered my name and how he was so genuinely proud to hear about how our fellow classmates were doing.  He remembered our class with great admiration.

If you take a few minutes to read his obituary, you will find the refenence to a story he often told.  It was the  'VW beetle on the roof' story - which of course we all know as the last and final act the Class of '76 took credit for begore graduating.  Thank you to Jeff and his gang for making us 'famous'.  Many other classes attempt to take the credit, but we know the truth!  After 50 years and still counting, that stunt will forever go down in history as 'the best ever' (by a bunch of teenagers)!

I will remember Dr Scholtz fondly.
