Robert D Park
January 1 1943 - August 23, 2026
Robert D. “Bob” Park, affectionately known as “Bob Bob” to his granddaughters, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2026, at the age of 83. Bob was born in Altoona, PA on January 1, 1943, to Robert C. Park and Ruth E. (Barefoot) Park. He was a longtime resident of Camp Hill, Pennsylvania.
Bob was a graduate of Altoona High School and Pennsylvania State University, where he developed the knowledge and skills that would become the foundation of a long and meaningful career in education. He retired as a teacher from Franklin County Career and Technology Center, where he taught Mechanical and Architectural Drafting and AutoCAD. Bob took great pride in teaching and in helping his students develop skills that would serve them throughout their lives.
Bob was deeply involved in his community and in organizations that were important to him. He was a member of Hiram Lodge No. 616 and the Scottish Rite in Altoona, and later became a member of Eureka-West Shore Lodge No. 302 F&AM in Mechanicsburg and the Zembo Shrine, Harrisburg. He was also a former member of the Camp Hill Lions Club. Bob was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Camp Hill, where he found fellowship and faith within his church family.
Above all else, Bob was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He shared 61 years of marriage with his wife, Barbara A. (Shrum) Park. Together, they built a life filled with family, memories, love, and countless moments that will be cherished forever.
Bob is survived by his wife, Barbara; his daughter, Rachel Park Beck; son-in-law, Michael Beck; and his two beloved granddaughters, Payton and Jordyn. A sister, Nancy Hitchings of Altoona, PA
To Payton and Jordyn, he was their “Bob Bob.” He loved his girls unconditionally and cherished every moment he had with them. The memories they made together, the love he gave so freely, and the special place he held in their lives will live on in their hearts forever.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Robert C. Park and Ruth E. (Barefoot) Park.
Those who knew Bob will remember him for his dedication to his family, his commitment to teaching, his service to his community, and the love and kindness he shared with those around him. His absence leaves an immeasurable void, but his legacy lives on through his family and all those fortunate enough to have known him.
Receiving of friends and family will be held Friday, September 4, 2026, beginning at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Camp Hill. A Masonic Funeral Rite will be held followed by a Funeral Liturgy with the Eucharist at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the Columbarium at Trinity Lutheran Church.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Sullivan Funeral Home, Enola, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Camp Hill.

Bob was a good friend and he will be missed. I got to start each year of Birthdays for our class with
his birthday on January 1. There was a beautiful post on facebook from his daughter I thought I would share:

"Dad got to witness my very first breath on this earth, and yesterday I was blessed to be there for his last.
I can’t seem to find a picture of the two of us from those first moments of my life, but I have the memories of watching him meet my girls for the first time. Moments I will treasure forever. He loved my girls unconditionally and, honestly, I think he may have loved me even a little more once they came along.
There will be more to come as we begin to celebrate his life and all that he meant to our family. For now, I want to leave you with a quote from a friend who knows this pain all too well:
“Hug the ones you love, and don’t be afraid to tell someone you love them.”
Please do that. Life is fragile, and tomorrow is never promised. Hold your people a little tighter. Say “I love you” a little more. We love you Bob-Bob.

Bob and I were classmates at Penn State Altoona Campus. We both completed the 2-year Drafting & Design Technology Degree. And then we went our separate ways. Bob gained his 4-year degree in 1993 and separately I obtained mine in 1973.
But this is where it becomes a mystery - we connected as friends on Facebook and neither of us seem to know of our earlier time together at AUC! Bob lived across the Susquehanna from me, we were new friends and never realized the connection from being together 65 years ago! Following this sad passing, I realized it when I spotted his picture at his daughter's wedding from years ago on her Facebook page. RIP Bob - you are missed.

Bob and I were neighbors as kids. We lived 3 houses apart. We were friends since small hids. He was a very nice person, Never said anything bad about others. We always talked at the reunions.
