Frederick H. “Fred” Smith, 79, Altoona, passed away Sept. 7, 2022. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Lloyd R. and Sylvia M. (Olson) Smith.
Surviving are a daughter, Heather Smith-Elliott; grandsons: Michael, Jacob and Lucas Smith-Elliott; and a great-granddaughter, Ridley.
Fred was a veteran who proudly served as a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps.
A graveside memorial service with Military Honors will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022, at Alto-Reste Park, Altoona. Interment will follow.

So very sorry to hear of Fred's passing. We were very good friends all through high school. We played beside each other in band and I have fond memories of all the trips and activities we share. RIP Fred
