I keep hearing talk of reunions but will the class of '89 actually be having one? Any news on where, when and/or who is planning it?

We are currently gathering information for as many classmates that we can find.

There are no plans in place at this time. Stay tuned to www.alvin89.com to post your choices in surveys for time of year, a place to have our reunion, price ranges, etc.

Open up those Contacts Folders in your email, facebook, or even that "little black book" to let as many classmates know about our site and reunion as possible.

I found Linda Lemgruber so I sent her the link. She is living in Mississippi with her husband, Bill Lobb (AHS '88) and their daughter Meredith.

I will send one to Keith LeRoy.

The forum does not appear to be getting much action...

Does anyone have any idea where Sam Fuentes, Walter Zendejas, Dean Jones or Charles Buckalew are?

I heard Walter is living in GTown and has a business down there. I have never been able to find him.

I am pretty sure Dean is still in the Alvin area somewhere but I have not been able to find him either.

I have no idea where Sam and Charles ended up...

I heard from Sam Fuentes on MySpace a while back. I'll send him a message about the site. He was living in SE Houston when we reconnected.

I have no idea where Sam Fuentes is, I would love to talk to him. My little brother keeps up with Charles Buckalew's little brother Robert, I will see what I can find out.

Nice to find this place.

Mike! The last time I saw Buck was in 2003 I believe. I'd really like to catch up with him also.

I believe Dean is in the area. I spoke with him a few times when our kids played soccer at the same time in Alvin.

I talk with Keith Leroy some and I think he might know where Sam Fuentes is. I will ask him next time I talk with him and try and get any info I can.

I also sent an invite to the very suave Ricky Bates who lives in Fort Worth with his wife and two kiddos.

Hey Bryan... Good to hear from you.

I recall bumping into you 5-6 years ago and you mentioned you were in a band back than. You guys sound pretty tight... nice job.

Man alive it seems like just yesterday we were running around your grandfather's nursery killing time during the Summer.

Holy shit we are old...

Can I say shit on the message board?

Hey Y'all. I got a message from Ben and Missy(or Mr. Nicholson and Mrs. (Wade)Rogers). This pretty cool. I haven't seen anybody in forever, but I have communicated with Ben, Knape and Terry Gerbert-(something).This will give me something else to check out while at work. Can you believe 20 years?

There are some names missing.

Hi Missy,

Yes, This is a great site and I'm really enjoying the Pre-union with all the former classmates. It's great to see everyone doing so well.

And Yes, I do live in Colorado but b/c of my profession, distance does not limit my ability to plan events. But since you've already formed your steering committee and don't need any help, here are the tips you requested...

1. Do you have a site selection plan in process?
And/or do you have ANY thoughts as to where you might hold the reunion?
2. Has anyone contacted hotels for negotiations on rates, availability, extensions and/or shuttle services?
3. What type of pricing is the website charging? Flat fee, percentage or markup?
4. And what is the cost associated with outsourcing?
5. Will someone be contacting the airlines for group discounts for us out of state attendees?
6. Have you thought about putting a list out of what would be needed to see if any of the classmates can assist/bid for minimal or no cost? Ie. Entertainment, catering (if that route is taken), promotional or printing needs, etc?
7. Will your budget be available for public viewing?
8. Will you be extending the invitation to attend to other graduating classes?

I hope that helps. Let me know if you need anything further.

Well, I had to write something since lurking here doesn't seem right. My head is spinning with all the names from the past. I'm starting to feel a little "old"! 20 years has flown by.

I do have a few requests as far as the reunion goes. I went to the 10 year and was a little disappointed. I really felt the DJ was HORRIBLE! Every time we all started having a good time dancing to 80's music, he'd change it to something nobody wanted, and everyone would leave the floor. Unfortunately, he never got the hint. Please try and find someone who knows what they are doing, and knows how to read the crowd. Also, I thought it was unfortunate that no one had collected info about those attending to have games, contests, etc. Like who changed the most, who lives the farthest away, etc. I think we would have enjoyed that.

I hope to attend again, but it will depend on cost. It gets expensive fast when you have to fly, rent a car, a hotel, tickets etc.

Great to hear from so many, hoping to see many at the big event.

Angela

No decisions have been made as of yet. The Steering Committee will meet within the next few weeks to create a survey that will determine: time of year, type of activity, and price range. There are several suggestions that have been thrown out and no reunion service has been contacted at this time. We are simply in a fact-finding mission to get as many classmates to join our site as possible. We will launch the survey and give a time period to respond. I will send a blast email to the whole class to let everyone know it is live. From there, we will take the responses and make some determinations. We are open to suggestions, but have not gotten any further than addresses.

Thanks to all who are passing the word about our site and for all of your patience. We are in the process of adding all classmates. If you see that your name is not included, simply click the contact me button to send me an email with your name and email address. I am adding names as I get them. I am glad to see the response.

As soon as there any details to report, I will add them to the site. Missy Wade Rogers

Well Mike.. you just did...so I think it is ok.

and yes I remember wrecking three/four wheelers out in the nursery. Good times.. and we are a little old.... but a few miles left on the old tires.

Every once in a while I'll drive past your old house over by Mark Twain and how we would always wake up your dad after he had been on a graveyard shift.

Bryan.... Incredible. I had completely forgotten the time a "wrecked" that three wheeler. Seems like we had had far more access to motorized vehicles at that age when we should have. I also have vague recollections of a mini bike and a small truck we used to tool around the nursery in as well...

Does anyone know where David O'Brien is? Or if his family still lives in Alvin?

08/27/08 05:59 PM #21

Staci Botter

Bryan... thanks for NOT letting your cousin know about this site ya goof ball.... and when did all these wrecks take place at the nursery? I was never included in them or heard about them and I lived there lol

Does anyone know where Mike Sellers is at?

08/28/08 10:16 AM #23

Bryan Ford

Only Mike flipped off of a three wheeler... I just ran into things usually.

And sorry about the lack of an update. I am pathetic.
