Danny South had shared this email with me concerning Wesley.  Many of us who went to Amarillo College knew Danny very well.  Thank you Danny for sharing your thoughts on Wesley...He is a loss to us all.

Hello Rodney, hope all is well.

I wanted to share my sentiments with your AHS Classmates regarding Wesley.

I had various Calc, Physics & Statics/Dynamics classes w/him @ AC. When I first met him, I thought who is this big 'ole greasy-haired kid?! Upon the first couple of weeks, I knew this kid was destined for greatness.

This gentle soul literally had one of the most brilliant minds of our time. And I do mean in our lifetime literally.

What most are unaware of, myself included until this past week...Wesley worked with Government & MIT on high-tech Research projects around the world. Wesley was well known and highly respected in the scientific world.

I have had the pleasure of dealing with some incredibly talented minds around the world in my business dealing with Academia & Research.

Suffice to say, I have thrown Wesley's name around to countless individuals that Wes could literally work a 3rd Order Linear Diff. Equation...in his head.

The last time I saw Wesley was in ABQ back in '90 or '91. Although his physical appearance had changed, he was still the "same" Wesley that I held...and always will...in high regards.

Take Care,
DFS

Floyd "Wesley" Kellison, 47, of Amarillo died Tuesday, June 28, 2011.

Celebration of life services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St., with the Rev. Gary Kellison, Mr. Kellison's uncle, officiating.

Wesley, named after grandfathers he never had the opportunity to know, was born July 10, 1963, in Amarillo.

He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1981. Wesley earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in electrical engineering from Texas A&M University and pursued doctoral work at Purdue University.

His career spanned 25 years, moving his home from California to Texas to Arizona and finally to Colorado. In Colorado, Wesley was employed with MITRE Corp., a not-for-profit organization that applies systems engineering and advanced technology to critical national problems. He loved his work and was well-respected by co-workers and peers in his field.

His hobbies included astronomy, which he said would have been his chosen profession had he not decided on electrical engineering and music. He loved music and loved to play his guitars.

Wesley loved animals. He contributed often to the ASPCA. His family included two canine friends, Coda and Dreyfuss, who have been constant and steadfast companions for more than 10 years.

Wes is leaving behind a loving family and friends who stood with him in his unrelenting battle to overcome cancer. He was a gentle soul who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Kelly Kellison.

Survivors include his parents, JoAnn and Junior Kellison of Amarillo; a brother, Ricky Kellison of Amarillo; a sister, Linda Curry of Sanger; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts and uncles.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be to American Cancer Society, 3915 S. Bell St., Amarillo, TX 79109; or The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, P.O. Box 96929, Washington, DC, 20090-6929.
