I will always remember Mr. Reed. He is one of the top 5 teachers I have ever had. I wasn`t the greatest academic to come down the pike, but I think "Breezy" could have taught me anything. History was his specialty and I did very well in his class. His personality, and the way he made everything so interesting somehow got through to me.
Another reason I will always remember "Breezy" is that I was sitting in his class when I heard the message that would change history come over the loudspeaker in the classroom.
"I am sorry to interrupt your class today but I have just found out that President John F. Kennedy has been assassinated."
I agree with Tony, Mr. Reed was an outstanding teacher who brought history alive. I was in the classroom also when the announcement came over about President Kennedy. I have a very clear memory of Mr. Reed punching the blackboard in anger, a clear display of his feelings.
Mr. Reed was a great story teller. He was someone who could make history interesting and entertaining. I have never forgotten his energy, and enthusiasm for his subject. He was a great example of what a teacher should be.
