Did you reboot your computer after upgrading your java? Sometimes it can be little things as simple as that.

Check your IE browser settings and make sure things are at the default settings. I.E. make sure you're not running a super high level of security or something like that that could interfere with java.
You might have to reset your Internet Explorer Settings like I had too ~ follow this link to show you how ~ http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936213
