Ralph Hensel and I were best friends along with Larry Howard and kept in touch since graduating from Andover High. Since we all went our separate ways after graduation we rarely met again except at HS Reunions. Ralph was a C-47 pilot in a very special aircraft fitted with several miniguns to provide close air support in Vietnam. I was very proud to have known Ralph and to hear about his Air Force exploits. He was a true American hero.

I'm pleased to say that all of these kids were my best friends in elementary school. Jack Ball is in the upper right corner of the photo. Those were memorable years and my list of old friends has gotten a bit shorter with the passing of Jack. Irv Stowers (the kid on the left with suspenders)
