Thanks for the help Glen and Marian.   Barb, I had been trying to find Pixie after we spoke last month.  Blacksburg was not showing up in any of the searches.   Will launch a new search now.

I have 6 classmates so for volunteering on the mission of locating our missing classmates.  It's a daunting task and so very appreciative of their time and effort.   Any other sleuths wanting to help us or even contributing leads to help us locate them are graciously welcome...   You can message me here or email me directly at

Hi All

Since everyone is getting geared up for the 50th, I thought I'd share a few pictures from the 40th reunion!  Sorry I don't have more.

Enjoy - Ron Reeg

Great pictures Ron!  Thank you for sharing them.   Wondering if anyone else has pictures from the 40th or other reunions willing to share...

Hi everyone.

In case anyone is interested, Kurt is in the midst of an Appalachian Trail thru-hike at the moment. He began at Springer Mountain in GA and is on his way to ME.  He hiked 1500 miles of it in 2015 when a medical emergency caused him to cut his hike short and so now that he is retired, he is making another attempt. If you are interested in seeing some of his occasional posts on Instagram, you can find him at kurt_bodling
He is having a great time!

ALL..

If you have time check this guy out. His name is: Mike Dawe s. He's a phenomenal guitar player! This particular piece is a cover. But many of his other pieces are originals.

Enjoyed seeing many of you at the reunion this past weekend. I wish that there would have been some more of us . . .

I had a thought that unfortunately came to me after the fact. Since it was Homecoming weekend at AHS, we should have elected a Homecoming Queen of our own. In 1972, we chose Debbi Valosio. What a fine choice! I nominate her again -- post facto. For courage in adversity, grace, internal & external beauty, her never-ending smile and an envelope of "goodness" that you could almost feel whenever you got close --> I suggest Debbie be chosen by general acclaim as our 2022 Queen. (Her husband Ted can be our honorary "king" by virtue of being an obviously great guy and such a rock for Debbie.)

Can I get a witness??

Yes! Thank you, Dan.  And blessings to you Debbie and Ted for being a gift to our 50th Reunion.

It really was nice to see everyone and to revisit our past and rejoice in our future. I believe everyone looks so great and had a wonderful time. Hope to do it again in about five years

So glad to have this wonderful forum to catch up with everyone, and can't wait to see photos of all the dear, sweet faces from our class of '72!

Was sorry to be out of the country during our ab/fab 50th reunion, just now back and looking forward to catching up via this forum with fabulous photos and wonderful comments! Was able to catch up with Bill Medved about 8 weeks ago when he took a break from building his fabulous new home in Charleston, SC, so we were able to have a mini-Atom reunion at that time and catch up with the news of many of you via Bill!

Please keep in touch, and if anyone is visiting in the San Diego area, would love to continue to catch up!

And yes Dan, totally agree and vote on our lovely Homecoming Queen Debbie!....and keeping up with that spirit, Dan does not wear off, as the YEARS go by!! :-)

Meanwhile, go ATOMS......and keep going strong, our fabulous Class of 1972!

A fine choice indeed Dan and very well said!  Debbie could always light up a room with her outgoing personality and beautiful smile.

Nice choice Dan, and thanks to all who came for our 50th. We had a really nice time and I thoroughly enjoyed catching up with folks! And hats off again for Bill and Cathy for tying it all together, and Carl and Jeff for capturing it all!

Dan, great idea to honor or dear classmate, Debbie and her kind hearted huband, Ted.

Thanks again to Cathy and Bill for creating a wonderful, fun filled weekend!  It meant so much to me to see and reconnect with AHS classmates after all these years.  Friends make life more beautiful and I thank you all for the gift of friendship.

Debbie Valosio

Hey all, this is Ted typing and taking dictation from Debbie! Thank you all for the kind words, we had a great time seeing everyone. So many great memories. Hopefully we can keep in touch and not wait 5 or 10 years to reconnect. I am posting a few pictures of the homecoming court in 1971, a page from the A blast, and a nice note from Susy Sylvester from 50 years ago telling me I won homecoming queen!

Thank you to Cathy and Bill for pulling this together. All the time and coordination led to a great event.

Love to all,

Debbie (and Ted)

Hello, wonderful pals...Wish I could have been there with you. Missed the 40th, too.  Even so, I've stayed in touch with many AHS friends through the years.  Thank you, Bill and Cathy, for keeping things going.  Debbie, you and Bobbie were the "Queens of Authenticity" in my book!

Thanks to Bill & Cathy for planning this 50th Reunion!  Without the name tags I would have been at a loss as to who everyone was!  It was a great time!  Loved catching up with everyone.  I'm in agreement with Dan, Debbie and her husband should be honorary Homecoming queen king!  And Bob Oderwald's amazing reunion with his estranged brother is another memorable story for the Reunion!!  His brother was there for the 1966 class reunion at same time ours was going on!

Thanks so much to Bill and Cathy for setting up a fantastic reunion. I so agree with Dan that Debbie and her husband should be honorary homecoming queen, king. I truly believe we have one of the best classes ever from Annandale. It was great seeing everyone, and see you all at the next reunion !

I so enjoyed having an opportunity to see AHS classmates again. And I too would like to praise and thank Bill and Cathy for their efforts in organizing this reunion. I appreciated having a number of activities during the weekend to choose among to attend. And I must say, I liked the tour of AHS, and I was impressed with the current Principal, Shawn DeRose; AHS appears to be in good hands.

I'd just like to echo the expressions of appreciation to Bill and Cathy for making this reunion happen, especially for those nametags! It was fun to see folks from all "realms" of AHS attending and to remember special meaningful times.

Kudos to Bill, Cathy, Jeff & Scott for a dynamite reunion @ the Fair Oaks Marriott.  I recently read in a journal that " the first 18 years of your Life are the most meaningful years....."      Annandale High School provided so many zenith moments.  The football games (State Football Champs),  the dynamite teachers ie. Lora Nell Summers, Mary Scantlebury, Madame Worrell, Capt. Breitenberg..,......Thespians, Ski Club,  Pep Rallies, Keyettes, graduation @ stunning Wolf Trap ,the excellent wrestling team, Young Life led by Scott & Marilyn Dimock, French 5 class performing The Wizard of Oz in French.....   There was no social media or cell phones.  Life seemed easier.  When I look back to the class of '72 , I think of these words---TOGETHER, UNITY, COMMUNITY and CONNECTIONS and RESPECT.    Thank you Class of 1972 for so many precious memories !!!      Malane Siegrist Silver

I recall doing some public library research back in high school covering the history and origins of Annandale as a location (and defining the borders of "Annandale" turned out to be complicated). Anyway, it seems to have been named after the valley of the River Annan in Scotland. If any of you make a pilgrimage back to Annandale's roots, you could try this:
