Hey guys! I don't have any wonderful suggestions about the reunion, I'm pretty boring like that. But, I have been wanting to go to that Great Wolfe Lodge in Grapevine. Also, anywhere in Sundance is cool. The outdoor event would be fun too, but let's keep in mind what time of year we will be having this shindig. I stayed in Texas but I still don't enjoy the summer sweatyness.

Hello to all hope everyone is doing well. I am really looking forward to seeing everyone for the big reunion. I read what everyone posted and I see we have some extremely great ideas as for me I'm pretty simple I can do formal or informal I'm mainly looking forward to catching up with everyone. All I say is whatever is decided that the atomsphere is comfortable for all so everyone can enjoy themselves to the fullest because this like our prom, graduation and all senior events we did should be another added life time memory. As far as the date I know the only time I will be back in the states during the summer months is June it's crazy but my little sister graduates high school 2009. I will be in the states for 21 days total during that time so if the reunion is schedule during the summer months hopefully it will fall in that 21 days. I thought the reunion was schedule for October but maybe that is class of 98. But if I had to pick I would choose end of September and anytime after that for dates and that's only due to me being able to come back into the states. Or in June when I'm there.

Talk to you Later,
Brandy

I'm really excited to see everybody that's for sure. My main concern about the Meet'n Greet is that we need to find a place that if it plays music, plays a wide array so as not to alienate anyone and also is not too loud so we can hear each other talk. I know you can't please everybody, but we can make our best efforts to at least make people feel comfortable. Remember, Sam was the most diverse school in the AISD at the time. If the majority is comfortable the few who are not will most likely stick around too. As for the other events, I'm down for whatever. I like the idea of having something more formal since I never get to dress up. As for Sunday, I agree group church is a bad idea, not only because of the wide breath of faiths held by our classmates but many people are just not morning people. I do like the idea of picnic or brunch/lunch on Sunday and it being optional. This would be a way for those who need to leave to travel home to go and those who do not have to leave the area directly can still chat and mingle. However, depending on the time of year a picnic might be out of the question. I do think that we need to come up with cost as quickly as possible as I'm sure that many of our classmates live on tight budgets.

As for the playlist, can we get it to where it doesn't block a huge chunk of the home page?

Christina Dunaway (Wilks)

Oh and for the playlist, can we put something on there other than pop/r&b/country as well? Like the Greenday song that was in the running for class song? Just a suggestion.

Thanks

Why is everyone so against church! Maybe that's why our class can't come together like the other classes! (No offense to anyone)

Polexeny (Polly) Georgiopoulos (Vourliotis)

Tiffany.

I don't think that our class is against church as much as they aren't all of the same religion. In one of your previous posts you mentioned that there was only one God right? Some believe it, others don't, and some don't worship at all.

I'd attend any event that we put together but I will not attend church with my classmates. We just aren't all the same religion. Some go to church on Sundays, others on Saturdays and some not at all. I think pushing the church issue will get less and less people to attend.

Tiffany I am not against the church thing at all. But there are so many of us that it will be impossible to all unite together. A good idea to do on Sunday is church, maybe a list of church services could be given out at the meet and greet along with the other idea events for the weekend. This will give the options for different religons to choose where they would meet. For those who dont want to take part that is fine as well. But there should be an afternoon event to close the reunion off. Hey does anyone knows who is on what committees or where are the class officers at. There are not many posts on their oppinions. where yall at officers? where are the rest of the class, pass the word to everyone about this site. this has been a mini reunion just through log on which is great. talk to yall later.

Sharita Moore (Sheppard)

Okay I am back. Just thought about the dates for reunion. How about in October end of September. This will give us the option to attend a school football game, maybe a homecoming. what better way to reunite then during homecoming...During that time it most likely want be that hot. Game on Friday, Sat. a nice dinner or reception, and Sunday a picnic or some family event. What yall think about that or ideas????Could mean cheaper cost for travel and hotel stay and price for events to be held during the non peak times ie summer.

08/27/08 07:53 AM #26

Tiffany Stimpson

Great idea- football game! The site said the reunion committe will be developing soon and will be having a meeting soon! The officers are affliated with this site as far as I know and church like all the reunion events is always optional! Hey, check out the class of 1998 website and the company putting together their reunion! Maybe we can pay a company to put our reunion together and they can handle everything for us to make it fun and memorable for everyone! The company class of 1998 used is www.reunionsbythepartypeople.com It looks like their reunion is going to be fun and simple and everyone is going to come and enjoy themselves! Let's also remember this is just our ten year and we can get more extravagant on our 20year, 30year etc. We can also have mini cruises in between at the 5 year marks. . . . .

08/27/08 09:46 AM #27

Polexeny (Polly) Georgiopoulos (Vourliotis)

I love that idea Tiffany. Class of 98's website looks amazing for one and their events are pretty awesome as well. I don't know how much the cost is or who is paying for it but we can pay by paypal or whatever and everyone who wants to donate to that cause can.

I also like the ideas of little give aways at our reunion. I know that class of 96 had a little survey that everyone filled in when they got to the reunion and during dinner gifts were given out for some random categories.

1. How long have you been married
2. How many kids do you have
3. How far did you travel to get here

and there were more and whoever was married the longest, had the most kids, travelled the furthest to get there would win something small ($5 gift card to starbucks). But it would be nice to hand out a little memory book with "THEN and NOW" and our updated profiles etc. I don't mind paying some extra money to get things done.

Also, as far as printing up books goes I have a very good friend in Arlington who owns a printing company and would give us great rates on the cost of printing. The company is called Corpies and I'm sure some of you know some of the owners or people related to the owners (Dan Rigney, Wes Hamilton, Darryll Allen).

As far as when the reunion is I'm sure I can get off work pretty much any time I want but Sept. and Oct. are REALLY hard for me because its tradeshow season for my company and I'm the one who puts the shows together! Summer is better for me but I do understand that travelling costs are higher in the summer. As long as I have enough notice to make sure I have everything taken care of before I leave I should be good. Does anyone even know if our HS has a good team these past few years?!

Wow, how exciting is this!?!?

I'm all about the get-to-gether on a Friday and a formal dinner of some sort on Saturday. I remember Joe Pool Lake being 'the spot', so I'm for that idea. Due to the deployment rotations with the 101st Airborne Division, a May or June reunion is ideal for me. I'm not sure if I am deploying within the next year or not. I'll keep everyone posted.

I'm not much the Sunday idea due to my religion, but I'm all about a brunch or late lunch meet-up after our religious activites are done. It would be a nice way to wind down the reunion.

It's great to see people getting together on this thing. Ten years is a very long time past!

Wow, for one I can not believe we have finally reached this point! It will be great to see everyone that decideds to attend. Tiff, I haven't looked at the site you mentioned but I will. It sounds like everyone is on the same page as far as events are concerned. I like the idea of meeting during football season (sorry Polly, I really want to see you!) but maybe somehow they could tie it in at some point of the game? On the flip side with many classmates having families the summer months may be better? I was home in July and went to the Wine Loft in Southlake and it was a really nice spot. They have indoor and outdoor space, and a loft inside so it could be a nice spot, maybe see if we could reserve it for the meet and greet if we veto the game? I just think it would be nice to be somewhere reserved for "us". Dinner would be fine on Saturday and as far as Sunday goes maybe we could ask for the school to be opened and do a "tour" and lunch there? Just some thoughts. Good to hear from you all!!

Jada

Ok, I see the ladies making posting here. WHERE ARE THE GUYS!? Guys, if you don't post anything, I believe you will be A@#ed out when we ladies get what we like. I don't want to hear any crying!

I like the tour of the school idea! How about like during a football game we tour the school and use the new gym as our very own skybox! You know watch the game from monitors and meet and greet each other from the new gym! It could be VIP for the class of 1999! Of course we would have to provide the monitors, but it would be cool b/c everytime we saw one of our classmates at regular seating someone could go get them and bring them to our VIP skybox (the new gym) where everyone else was at! Maybe, I'm over my head, but its just an idea guys, k!

08/28/08 10:22 PM #32

Christina Dunaway (Wilks)

As much as a tour of the school would be cool, I just can't do that to the janitors! My mom has been a janitor for the school district since we were in school, and actually that year she worked at Sam (she may have cornered some of you to ask where I was). When the inside of the school is opened after hours, someone has to clean it up, and that would be the people who already did a full 8 hour shift cleaning up after roudy teens all day. I also was a janitor for the AISD when I first got out of the Army so I know the kinds of messes people make, even if unintentional. However, if the school district would approve us access to the school after hours, we would then need to make arrangements to clean up after ourselves completely. I just can't approve of something that would require people to give up their weekend that normally have it off.

Sharita Moore (Sheppard)

I apology Christina for your personal experience. But I must say if where ever we decide to go or do for any of our events that weekend someone will have to do the cleaning. The mess is not caused to disappoint anyone weekend or family time. I believe we as a class would like to get together this one time since ten years and enjoy ourselves. Normally I would not mind signing up for a clean up committee but this is the one event that we should not have to do that. I hope that puts a ease to your concern or maybe i am reading your post all wrong. any suggestions on what to do that will not cause anyone to do any extra work time due to us having a ten year reunion.

09/03/08 03:12 PM #34

Christina Dunaway (Wilks)

I don't care where we go, honestly. My point was that I will not participate in an activity that would make an AISD employee have to come in after us. Assuming we met in the school on a Friday, the individuals cleaning up would be working a double. However, other venues' staff have different schedules and would not be being forced into pulling a double shift, but would be working their normal hours. I didn't mean to come off so harsh, it's just no one (not even the teachers at the schools) take into consideration the clean up factor when using the school after hours. I'm just about up for anything really, as long as it's not inside the school. Example, a football game will already have someone there to clean up after it then the reunion could move somewhere else.

09/03/08 10:44 PM #35

Tiffany Stimpson

Most employees love overtime especially since gas is so high and I'm sure they are not forced to work overtime! So chill on the clean up! Someone's got to do it no matter where we go!

09/04/08 03:16 PM #36

Christina Dunaway (Wilks)

I think you have misunderstood me completely. I'm aware that people will have to clean up behind us. That is someone's job where ever we go, I know this. I have issue with going inside of the school after hours. That is it. My arguement for that is the clean up factor. For all intents in purposes, I don't care where we go or what we do, but I will not participate in something that would have the school opened up after hours. A football game sounds awesome to me, but going into the school does not. The cleaning up was my arguement as to why I would not participate in an activity inside the school. Essentially us going into the school after hours is like going to Sonic after it's closed and expecting the staff to come back in to make you food, in my opinion.

That being said, I think we may want to think a football game then move the reunion somewhere else for the meet 'n greet part. Or we may just want to have the meet 'n greet at some place other than the school. And like I said before, I think we should go somewhere where there is plenty of sitting area, but the music either is neutral (like classical or just background) or a wide range as to not make anyone uncomfortable. In addition, I'm sure I'm not the only one with mild hearing loss, hehe, so if a place is too loud chit chat would be moot.

I hope I cleared up what I was trying to say and sorry if I stepped on anyone's toes there. I just feel really strongly about the whole using the school thing.

Thanks

I love Jada's idea for Sunday tour and lunch at the school. I also love all the talk of going to a football game. It would also be fun to have some event where everyone can bring the entire family. I would love to see peoples kiddos, and introduce y'all to mine. So many GREAT ideas. I can't wait to see everyone!

My 3 yr old would love to go to a football game, and I'd also like everyone to meet my family. Especially because my daughter is so freaking cute. hehe

Hello everyone! I am so happy that you guys are interested in the site and have so many great ideas for our class reunion. We just recently started the site so be patient with the little kinks and quirks. Programming can be a little tricky at times. The songs on the first page is only one of many playlist that the site will have. The music chosen was actually chosen from what was on the top ten list for 99', so sorry if we have not added your favorite jam just yet. Sit tight! Please be patient with me I am still waiting on some updates and new features to add to the website. For instance we will implement a actual arcade room, real-time chat room, and a 90's theme for the page (Just to name a few).
Also I am asking for your help to get the word out about our class page to fellow classmates and teachers. We have a feature that will allow teachers a profile as well! If you have any suggestions or questions feel free to hit me up anytime. Let's make this site and upcoming class reunion a great success!! The earlier we start the better and the cheaper it will be for everyone.

Make It A Great Day!

Well lets get to planning, time is moving fast!

09/20/08 09:51 AM #41

Polexeny (Polly) Georgiopoulos (Vourliotis)

I think that before anyone can properly beginning planning this we really have to decide on WHEN. So far we've had about 30 time frames thrown out there. You should all know that prices of venues rise and fall depending on what season it is. Around Xmas time everything is super expensive because of company parties, summer (August/Sept especially) are also expensive because of wedding season. March/April are usually cheaper because its dead season for hotels/upper scale places BUT most of us work and can't leave for weeks at a time. Then when its summer do you want arrange your FAMILY vacation around your high school reunion? How many people are traveling to get to the reunion?

Before you can properly plan this I suggest that someone create a poll on the site with when they perfer to have the reunion. You can have options like "Homecoming (September)" "Beginning of Summer (June)" "Middle of Summer (July)" "End of Summer (August/September)".

Also before doing that I suggest that we try to get as many people as possible to discover this website so that the reunion isn't planned based on two peoples perferences. Where in the hell is everyone?!
