I attended BGSU for my Bachelors degree, after which I began a teaching career in Toledo at Whitmer High School until 2007, during which I went to grad school at University of Toledo. I married my wife Anne, also a teacher, and have had many wonderful years with her. We still live in Toledo, but enjoy traveling to sunnier climates.

I grew up in Barnesville, Ohio, population @4000. It was an idyllic pastoral town where everyone knew each others’ children and where they were. In the midst of the brutally organized chaos of today, I truly wish a small part of small town family life could be relegated to every child, no matter the location. Our social media were talks with neighbors and party line telephones. I made 50 cents per week delivering 20+ copies of The Barnesville Enterprise on my bicycle. Twice my mother received concerned calls from my customers that I was riding my bike too fast.
We moved to Ashland when I was 11, where I met some of the best friends and people I’ve known.

Any local news show that focuses more on weather and less on violence and politics.
