University pf Idaho. Married Neil. Had two children. We moved to Boise where I taught Dance at Boise State Univ while finishing my BA. I taught there for almost 10 yrs. Also, I married my second husband Richard, creating a combined family of 6 kids! We moved to Southern Cal. (Well, Dick taught at Cal St. Bakersfield) and I got my MFA at USC.
With kids mostly grown and married, Dick and I both were hired at American Univ. in Cairo where I taught Theatre and designed costumes for the productions. Along with both of us falling totally in love with the Sinai and diving in the Red Sea, Dick also fell totally for a very young Egyptian woman. So marriage over. Yet I continued to teach in Cairo for another year.
I moved back to Boise State where I taught for a year, then onto S.U.N.Y Geneseo where I taught for 6 yrs. Finally, I had the opportunity to move west again to Oregon State Univ. where I am the Costume Designer etc.
OSU afforded me the opportunity to teach abroad again, in Siena in 2005. Since then I've also developed a passion for Japan. Through a Freeman grant I was able to study the culture and religion... And art.......and Theatre. I've presented papers on disparate Japanese topics from glass to Kurosawa (Presentation on his Throne of Blood last Jan in Australia). I'm proposing a paper on umami for a conference this next Jan.
But, I truly want to spend more time with my family, and so I plan to retire soon. And I hope to go back to Japan.
